That's what made him for me. Watching Mask of the Phantasm and Return of the Joker back to back really shows just how much of a toll his life had taken on him. That's more development than Batman usually gets. Stuff like Brave and the Bold or a lot of his comics just set him up as "Batman" and keep it there all throughout. It's nice to see him given some actual depth that doesn't end up getting retconed or ignored later on.

Nope, I agree. They all had well defined personalities complete with strengths and faults. That's a lot more than most ensemble casts get, especially in children cartoons. Beast Boy was kind of grating, but the rest of them have never had better portrayals.

Fleischer Studios has the Best Superman. Even though he's OP, the shorts made it clear to show that Superman's needed in situations that are beyond the control of local authorities like inventors using giant robots to commit robberies, or a volcano erupting.

DCAU has the better Clark Kent, which makes being Superman more of a second job for Clark with all the stress that comes with it.
