"Love triangle" is a very broad term that you could use to describe pretty much any romantic configuration/conflict of three people.

Star is superficially the third wheel in the traditional sense, but she has never actually intentionally gotten in the way of them as a couple, up until her confession (right before she removed herself from their lives, "forever").
Marco chose to interrupt his date with Jackie in "Bon Bon" to check on her, the "date" at the concert was the three of them bonding as friends (Star is the one who bought the tickets, and she invited Jackie over Marco's objections) and Star chose to leave when Marco and Jackie started getting romantic, and "Starcrushed" is about Marco and Star trying to work through an awkward place in their friendship, at a party in their own shared house, with Jackie setting herself aside and encouraging them to work things out.

Beyond the surface apperance and traditional definition, Jackie is the true "third wheel" to Marco and Star's relationship. Out of the three of them, their friendship is the most deep and intimate bond by a wide margin. They would, and have, drop everything to help the other, even risking their lives to save each other.
Marco and Jackie are in a relationship, but they still don't really know each other. It's still just a freshman high-school romance, and now it seems like it's Too Little Too Late for them to move beyond that.

And "tricycle" is completely inaccurate; there is no polyamory involved. Star and Jackie both like Marco, neither of them have interest in each other beyond casual friendship, and they're definitely not willing to share him.

They were probably friends or allies or even Moon was behind Toffee's cause up to a certain point. Then obviously politics/the Mewman-monster tensions reached a crisis point and their relationship fell apart once the battle depicted in the tapestry happened.

Moon probably fucked up in some way regarding that, I think that may be an angle they're going for, but also while probably unhappy about the battle felt the end results outweighed whatever she'd done. Maybe not quite realizing Toffee would still be planning an elaborate revenge afterward.

Don't think they're going to be portraying Toffee as really sympathetic in this either though. Like the stuff he's doing now/may have done then cancels out what he's fighting for, and it's likely he moved past his original ideals long ago. I'm starting to wonder if maybe he was reaching his hand out toward Moon like she is in that image though, at the moment she attacked, but who knows.

Don't think they're going to get totally sympathetic with him, or make it seem like Moon's fault or anything. Just if someone working on the show feels their past is sad there must have been a more personal angle.

Also I hate the idea of romance there but now I really think they could go either way on that.

One thing to keep in mind is that the tapestries are likely embellished to SOME degree (or at least the text probably is).

But if the tapestry is accurate....Toffee doesn't look mad so much as surprised.

Almost as if he's shocked that Moon would do that. Perhaps Toffee crossed a line that he didn't think Moon would mind, and she did. Who knows?

I do think though that Toffee has likely strayed from an original ideal though. He shits on Buff Frog for no good reason ("fat sack of garbage" is pretty strong even if Buff Frog is suspicious of Toffee's ulterior motives), and only cares about the other monster allies on the surface it seems.

I think that both Moon and Toffee will be portrayed as having screwed up, Toffee probably more so (or perhaps Moon more so which drove Toffee to where he is now).

It's gonna be interesting to see where they take things.

That is a fair point. Though another potential explanation is that Toffee didn't expect to actually lose once they fought, and his surprise is at that in-the-moment.

I think Toffee's surprise might have come from the fact that Moon managed to genuinely wound him, since Toffee's usually able to regenerate any wounds he receives. The fact that Moon managed to actually permanently wound him would have shocked him, especially if he has fought Butterfly magic users before (he has royal Butterfly skulls on him, after all).

Seeing as Toffee's been described as a megalomaniac by his own voice actor, I think he might have gone mad with power some time in the past, and ever since he's just been getting worse. His 'SURPRISE' moment clearly indicates he's hiding a lot of his true nature, and we saw in Starcrushed that he's become a total ham now that he has the power of the corrupted Wand at his command.

Yeah, the other way around seems more likely and is what I expected too when it became clear it wasn't just a random conflict. Just thinking about the implications Moon's pose there might have made me wonder if they could be going for yet another twist about how that happened.

I was never really into speculation on their relationship before Into the Wand, but now that there's some actual context it's pretty interesting. I feel like the guidebook has just enough implications going on that there's an impression of where they might go, but nothing too definite. Glad my perspective doesn't sound too off the mark.

This story appealed to me more when I read it when was first written than now. Like at one point I was thinking "yes, this feels totally canon" and now it's seeming more and more likely that the tapestry didn't tell us anything, and so Toffee's plan here seems maybe overly simplistic.

Just sorta feels like once he's been trying this sort of plan for centuries, it reduces him to almost a slightly more competent immortal Ludo rather than maybe someone with "potential" who only turned his interests to full-scale revenge in the relatively recent past. Though I guess Toffee literally is an immortal Ludo now, but still.

I do still like it overall. Anything to do with Butterfly queens that isn't shipping interests me, and there's not enough of that.

I also definitely think Eclipsa's tapestry description is propaganda: hell, Song Day made it clear that people just want to hear that their princess is perfect and can do no wrong, etc. Eclipsa with her dark magic and monster lover would go against pretty much all of that, and she'd likely be reviled by the people and future queens would try and distance themselves from her.

Also, is it implied that Eclipsa found her Mewman husband cheating and thus got and ran away with a monster lover? Right now I would be more surprised if they did make Eclipsa evil because of all that. Though I wonder if saying that her tapestry wasn't totally accurate would feel like too misleading on the narrative side.

I'm not sure if the show would be allowed to say she caught her husband cheating on her-- but then the monster relationship in itself sort of implies some cheating may have been going on from her side when she was married to the king too. So maybe.

I've seen someone else point out that the illustration of the All-Seeing Eye that Eclipsa would have drawn herself seems to contain a heart. Also that the figures depicted seem to call to mind the monster temple imagery.

Don't get me on the topic of terminal ballistics or I'll dump a shit ton of cross section doctor's sketches and notes and ballistic gelatin benchmark tests.

Suffice to say, it's good for its size as a pistol caliber/sub caliber round but even with longer barrels of a p90 (defeating the purpose) it's not going to have nearly the wound cavity of any intermediate rifle caliber. At its job it fits a very compact handy little tool and fills the niche it was designed to protect vehicle drivers and crewman and give them an option other than putting a bullet in their own head when shit goes wrong.

Which isn't to say I dislike it, but I'm cold to it because of how proprietary it is for the most part, unless FN opened that up and started letting other manufacturers start producing it. I think the real strength might be that it can perform as well as 9mm or so but with higher capacity due to its size and weight.

But I've not seen any tests where it outperformed by enough of a margin to find it really head turning.

I understand what you mean. There is shipper shit in many shows, but it's some next level shit with SvtFoE. There is a lot of venom coming from Starco shippers and they seem to be the most zealous and confrontational of any shipperbase I've seen so far.

I try to stay neutral on the matter, but it's hard to not want to see them blown out, after the way I see them treat others when discussing this show. I joined a Jarco group on facebook, just to see if the bullying was as bad as the claimed it was. They were correct, the Jarco group constantly got invaded by Starcoshippers and they would often try to kill the group or troll/spam. -The best evidence is during their argument Lekmet bleats at Rhombulus and he responds "You.. you think we should make other living arrangements?" Sounds like a breakup. That line sealed it for me.
-Rhombulus is shown as being sensitive (stereotypically gay attribute) saying 'I really can't take any more yelling today'
-He's also into weightlifting, again a stereotypically gay thing (see: /fit/)
-Rhombulus gushing about Lekmet being "the most pure hearted, hard working", etc.
-Rhombulus actually says "I love Lekmet" and bursts into tears at one point
-Rhombulus has a 'tea party' with pretend tea cups and kettle and donuts, all made of crystal which can't actually be eaten or drank. Having a just-for-play tea party is one of the most effeminate things you could think of, and therefore stereotypically gay.

So, I'm not a SJW, I don't believe in Stanna or Trans Marco, but I definitely thought there was an intentional hint of a gay vibe in this episode. I thought it from when I first saw it before I heard what anyone on Tumblr said about it.
