Interesting hook episode to begin with, then a bunch of shitty "character of the day" episodes. Just when people are about to give up and drop it, the midseason special does something interesting, the line, and the second half the season is slightly improved to keep viewers interested but still mostly filler until the sinker finale reels them in and leaves them on a cliffhanger.

The cliffhangers are the Bravo Vince of storytelling. Leave the season of with an "oh shit" moment that ends up getting resolved in one or two episodes, sometimes within the first few minutes.

I think the main reason for that is that it's a lot easier to make a recoloured screencap than do original drawfaggotry. Even the creator of the AU (kabuki, who is a damn good artist) started it out with the former like pic related.

I think Toffee may have been intended/written in though not exactly the same as what we got. Like eventually they decided "let's give Star a bigger villain" and then that concept evolved to him becoming the series' actual main antagonist rather than just a Season 1 boss.

This is based on Fortune Cookies only being outlined by one guy; same with Marco Grows a Beard. Those two episodes also not having involvement from Bisignano/Hammersley as well (as far as I remember; don't have production credits memorized).

So probably he was conceived as a larger threat but ultimately too serious, but then they decided to step up the game and make him a threat to the entire universe or whatever they're doing with him now, who even knows, and so Mewnipendence Day and Storm the Castle got overhauled. The other two were probably changed as well but not to that extent

Jackie has actually had a pretty big influence on how their relationship has developed. Not directly, but by being the target of Marco's affection and the goal that he's been working towards.
So she's served the dual purpose of giving Star a reason to push Marco to improve himself, and being an external force that has (on the surface) pushed aside the idea of romantic development between Star and Marco. They wouldn't see the other romantically, because they both know Marco likes Jackie. They can get way more intimate than most friends would ever be, because they know they're just friends, since Marco likes Jackie.
You know, until the status quo changes.

They're ok lead characters, but I'm not a shipper fag so my only hard on is for Ludo to crush his enemies. I'm hoping he plays a big part in putting down Toffee (But Toffee is pretty cool too)

Outside of background characters no one's supposed to care about and one-time characters we'll never see again:

Miss Heinous. St. Olga's was dumb and she was boring when they played her as a semi-serious villain. Her cheeks were more interesting than her.

Though in Heinous they actually were way funnier than they've ever been with her and so if they keep that trend up then I might like her more too. That was honestly her best appearance for me.

Also Sensei and Jeremy even more than her. Though I actually forgot they were even characters.
