That article doesn't *prove* anything. I doubt you even read it. So one creator operated award show had more nominations for Valiant than for DC and Marvel. But hey guess what, Marvel is 99% trash and DC still isn't all that great. Considering how creators hate corporate culture it isn't a surprise they decide to nominate a different publisher a ton.

Many of the best artists don't seem to be able stick to the kind of scheduling that DC/Marvel requires, it's why they hardly ever do interiors, and when they do it's either for only a few issues or some kind of mini/one-shot/whatever. That's how it seems to be with Hughes/Cooke/Bermejo/Ribic/Irving/etc...
