That's because Capcom is a relic of the old video game industry. They were one of the biggest vidya companies back when Japan was king (of the console industry at least) and Western devs mostly adapted to trends the Japanese set. Their games were huge and iconic but mostly for the smaller demographic of people who were actually into vidya before they got big last gen. It's such a shame because a lot of Capcom's IPs are fucking gold, too.

It's so sad to see them the way they are now, but on the other hand, it's mostly their own fault as well. Whoever's in charge needs to be fired right the fuck now, but that'll never happen with the way these sorts of things work. MVC3 began by confirming guys like Wolverine, Deadpool, Dante and Dormammu and eventually ended up having a roster that featured characters like Rocket Raccoon, Modok, Super Skrull, Viewtiful Joe, Amaterasu, Phoenix Wright and Arthur while keeping series legends such as Magneto and Sentinel. Ending with a roster that was both respectful to the series' history and a love letter to comic books and capcom fan favorites.

This one isn't just playing it safe, though that's true, it's being smothered by corporate bullshit. Disney-Marvels signature stranglehold keeping us locked to film rights for whatever awful, petty reason. If there are X-men characters they'll be shunted onto dlc to milk a few extra bucks out of people. Though I'm sure they'll be as transparently bitchy as they can and shoehorn in their new and 'improved' replacements.

September release is fishy as hell also, the lackluster graphics with its bland, styleless models, simplified controls and "back to basics" gameplay. I smell a rushed game done on the cheap, with an awful story mode to pad things out.
