Who do you think could do Kamen Rider justice as a western comic? So many story writers just swirl the drain with ideas, rely on big cross over events, and ludicrous major disaster villains. Kamen Rider stories rarely leave the city scape in terms of scope, and are all majorly about really interesting fight scenes, which are a rarity in comic books. Not to mention I feel like Western authors who aren't already heavily steeped in Kamen Rider as a franchise wouldn't know how to properly do Kamen Rider.

Kamen Rider can work a number of different ways. There's a lot of memes about "If you are not a friend of Justice, then you are mankind's enemy!," but it's really pretty rarely that bombastic all the time. Each Rider tends to have a theme for not just their powers and design, but the monsters and the entire tone of the season. Even if it's weird mashups of shit like fruits at least at first until THE LORE gets going. Who ever did God Hates Astronauts has the nuttier parts down, but the best Kamen Riders can do real emotional torque as well, and the nuttiness never really enters complete absurdism territory.

There's also the necessity of a proper beginning, middle and end. Wizard had the characters but the plot fucking stalled for the majority of the show. Even in creator owned comics, they prefer endless fucking serials over a contained story. Before he went completely nutso, I probably would've said Nick Spencer. Between Superior Foes and Bedlam, you have an author who does wacky characters who also have something more going on, and stories that revolve around a theme integral to both the character and larger plot. Any good writer would probably do.

A more interesting question is the artist. You want good action, of course, but do you want to go more modern western realism, or do we just say fuck it and go full Luther Strode?
