The first season of the show borrowed more from Johns Teen Titans run. Superboy as a clone of Lex/Superman, Miss Martian and Khalduran being Black Manta's son (which Johns suggested). Season 2 was more influenced by the Rogers Blue Beetle run as well as Weisman's time at DC during the 80s with all the ideas about Invasion and the metagene. The show does have its own distinct flavor, but it's not shy about taking ideas from the comics.
