Frankie is the real imaginary friend.

He's probably at college and re adopted Bloo. But they drifted apart after Bloo joined a frat (he's not even in college, they just let him in because he had the attitude) and Mac focused on his degree of Imaginary Friend Science. He interns at Fosters, which Frankie inherited, but the spark between the two is gone. She's once divorced with two kids and they're just awful.

Mac eventually takes on Frankie's old role as care taker and reconnects with the other imaginary friends and realizes what a jerk Bloo was. Bloo realized what a stick in the mud Mac was. They drift apart and only speak when Bloo ends up passed out in front of foster's after a drunken night out with his frat buddies who don't really care about him.
