It's a bit of a mind bender, but I think she thought it would draw pity from.

People assumed he was just a dumb animal because of his appearance, and so he often behaved like one when he felt he had no other option but to validate their assumptions to get them to back off, so she felt bad for him.

But I guess not wanting him to just think she's some midget with no real hang ups besides her size she thought he'd feel bad for her if he thought people assumed she was just a brat, and so was acting like that, like him, because of her life and would therefore sympathize with her inner struggle the way she did with him.

Failing that mental circus routine she might have just felt it usually got her her way to behave like that and defaulted to it hoping Waylon would drop his guard around a childlike personality instead of a scheming adult.
