Yeah it's remarkably funny.
It's kind of like Emperor's New Groove in the sense that the writers behind it really didn't give a shit since no one was holding them to any particular standard, so they just said fuck it, threw their hands up and made the best jokes they could get away with (it's not even remotely as funny as Emperor's New Groove but you get the point).
You have to kind of take it for what it is (a low cashgrab for kids) and enjoy it for the gags and not think much of it.

And as always, Eggman is the best character and the real reason to watch the show and Sonic Boom Eggman is the best version of him since AoStH.

I enjoyed both series (and the DS version of Colors which is basically Sonic Rush 3 featuring Wisps) more than the Boom games. I agree about Dimps being cheap as fuck with pits and spikes placement but those games had a lot of momentum and good platforming to them as well, and speed is a department I feel the Boom games lack a lot.

Fire and Ice is competent but I don't really like the gimmick they used, or rather I think it had more potential than being just used to melt blocks.

Extremely late reply but his core character is probably one of the most compassionate and light-hearted protagonists in videogaming, which is ironic considering he is known for the cringeworthy DUDE WITH ATTITUDE XDDDD deal.

I'm not a full-on Sonic autist so I probably couldn't explain this as good as other people can, but he's good because he's a non-conventional hero without the added edge other videogame protagonists often bring to the table.

There are a lot of games and comics where he is misrepresented, but when he is written right these are the traits that make him (in my opinion) a good character, or at least a good role model:

>Cocky and snarky, but knows his limits and his banter is in good nature (except when it's directed at Eggman, for obvious reasons)
>Genuinely heroic and good-natured, but despite being cocky he doesn't make a deal out of it
>Willing to be the bad guy in someone's narrative if he believes he's doing the right thing (without the edge seen in other characters)

Sonic's the type of guy who'd laugh at you for tripping and falling, but he'd be the first in helping you up and checking if you're actually OK
