the batman was pretty decent the only reason why people don't really like it is due to the fact that people constantly compare it to bruce timm's batman which is pretty much one of the best cartoons ever made
>>
>>91790126
More or less. I guess it doesn't really help that it made a lot of intentional deviations from Timmverse Batman.
>>
Even though this show started out pretty mediocre, it got consistently better every season.

When season 3 hit and Batgirl became a thing it became second only to TAS. One of my favorite designs for the character and she had the best quips. Really cute too.
>>
>>91790126
I remember being genuinely sad watching the Clayface episodes
Show really falls short towards the end IMO but it was fun, I rewatched recently
>>

>the only reason why people don't really like it is due to the fact that people constantly compare it to bruce timm's batman

You could make that argument to any post-B:TAS Batman show.
>>
>>91792217

You could make that argument for ANY cartoon post-B:TAS

Set the bar pretty high.

>>91789701
I think part of the issue is all the characters are doing bad impersonations of the B:TAS voices. That's going to draw comparisons, and there's no competeing with B:TAS.

Also, the animation is generic and soulless.
>>
>>91792905
>I think part of the issue is all the characters are doing bad impersonations of the B:TAS voices.

Batman's VA was doing his own thing until the later seasons, but even then I can't really say it's anything like Conroy.

The one you could argue with is KMR as Joker, but even he dropped that after a while and made the role his own.
>>
>>91791977
Their vision of Clayface was the best thing of the show.
>>
overall I'd say The Batman is a solid 8/10 series, although the series finale was pretty bad(reusing the already pretty lame aliens from the previous season's finale, having most of the Justice League be out of action for most of it, and a pretty piss poor final usage of Hugo Strange), and there were some odd hiccups here and there(Mister Freeze was mediocre in most of his episodes, Bane being closer to Blockbuster than his comic version, Ellen Yin completely disappearing from the show, Catwoman being really bland)

>>
>>91790126
The Batman was solid. You are right, it wasnt the bruce timm batman, but i really enjoyed the quirks of The Batman. I particularly liked the character designs. They were really offbeat compared to most adaptations, and that added a particular charm for me.

I have heard a lot of people hated this version of the joker, but i thought it was a decent twist.
>>
>>91796046
>Bane being closer to Blockbuster than his comic version

It's funny because they had Mark Desmund in the show.

>Catwoman being really bland

She had potential, but they didn't use her much.

BatB still had the best Catwoman.

>only reason why people don't really like it

There are a TON of reasons people didn't like it. It was pretty bland, many of the designs were terrible, it was blatantly toyetic (BATWAVE), lots of the characters that had been rewritten either didn't make sense or were just dumb, the Jackie Chan Adventures art team was jarring to some... the list goes on.

To say that the only reason people didn't like it was because it wasn't BtAS is disingenuous at best.

Fucking this. I never fully understood why people didn't like Joker's design/personality in this. Sure, there's the more 'sophisticated' side of him that we see in B:TAS, but the more wild and animalistic type was a refreshing change of pace. Plus the more angular design looked better in motion than it did as a still image.
>>
Is it just the time I grew up(born 98), but I cannot understand the love for TAS. Being frank, the style looks shit to me. Batman is supposed to have a long ass cape, not one where it drops to his knees.
>>
Batman didn't need another "take" and this shitty art only works on Jackie Chan Adventures. Actually they did MUCH better on JCA. For The Batman, it's like they thought they could quarter-ass it.
>>
>That episode with that regular ass guy who could turn back time just a little bit and kept going till he made Batman look like a tool

This might seem like such a little thing but I loved how this Batsuit's cape covered his entire body when he was stationary, making him look more like a giant shadow than a armored suit with a cape

I found her to be the most enjoyable Batgirl. Super cute, loved her voice-work, and her kind of big sister relationship with Robin.

I liked the Joker too, though I know opinion on him is mixed. I liked the acrobatic jester theme, and he actually looked like a joker you'd see on a playing card. I thought Kevin Michael Richardson's voice for him was a good runner-up to Mark Hamill's too--his voice-work involved a lot of alternating highs and lows that made it a lot of fun.

Penguin was less sophisticated, and seeing him presented as a formidable fighter was a little odd, but he was adorable.

Mr. Freeze's design was pretty formidable, but ultimately I didn't like it as much as BTAS.

Also, that Batman vs. Dracula movie was way better than it had any right to be.

I've always really liked this version of Batman. They tried several of their own takes on characters and it was pretty cool. Marilyn Manson Riddler, monkey Joker, the Police Officer as Clayface, the who Dracula movie was all things I really enjoyed. I didn't like the tone change in season 3.
>>

I liked Batman's cape. It made no sense. Sometimes it seemed light as a feather, other times it looked so heavy that you'd think he could barely move in it. And it was so long that there's no way he could walk without tripping. But it looked cool.
>>
>>91799640

I kinda liked its Joker. He's not my favorite, but I liked the idea of a Joker that could physically keep up with Batman.

The thing about the Joker is that even if he could match wits with Batman, the moment he got in punching distance, that's the end.
>>
>>91789701
This show had an amazing crossover fight between Superman and Batman. I still remember when they hyped it up back in the day.

I had hoped BVS would have taken some cues but I still liked what we got.

>>91799016
heck it's version of Bruce/Batman is pretty interesting, he's one of the few post Adam West versions of the character who feels like he became Batman because he wanted to help people, and not just because of what happened to his parents(even if that is still definitely a reason), heck he's a version where Bruce Wayne actually feels like a person and not just an act Batman puts on when he's not in the mask

>>91799510
if I remember properly Ivy was college aged actually, but yeah she definitely is younger than most versions

>>91804463
Harley being the older one certainly changes up the dynamic between them quite a bit
>>
>>91805209
Nah brah, in this version Ivy is roughly the same age as Babs. Actually they were friends prior to Ivy being mutated into a half-plant.
>>
>>91805327
One of the producers said that Ivy is specifically 19. We don't really see them at school at the same time and nothing in the show explicitly they're friends. If anything, Pamela being some college-age kid trying to rope a high school teen into illegal shit would give Gordon more of a reason to worry over Babs.
>>
The weakest part to me is having watched Roughnecks first, hearing Johnnie Rico as Batman is too jarring. Also the theme is the only U2 song I like other than the one from Batman Forever.
>>
I like that The Batman Joker was actually pretty funny with his plots.

Thats such horseshit.

It just wasn't a good show. It had really weak writing, piss poor designs and wanna be matrix fight scenes. Fucking Penguin can do quadruple tornado kicks? Really?

Things somewhat looked up when Alan Burnett was brought onto the show, but even then it was elevated to "forgettable" instead of bad.

The Laughing Bat is probably the only genuinely well written episode. And they still shoehorned Penguin into the climax.
