I just watched it all a few months ago and never really saw it much as a kid and it's pretty good. The more dramatic episodes tend to be more memorable and better-written than the "goofy cartoon shenanigans" ones but overall it did a pretty good job of maintaining quality over the course of its long run.
Best episodes are without a doubt the ones with Helga as the focus, she's a quite psychologically complex character.
The whole show is on Hulu, the DVD set doesn't cost too much either

After what happened in the movie, it'd be fucking weird if they ended up together. I always found it disgusting how Helga suddenly assumes Arnold would like her back, especially because she was afraid to tell him how he felt all along BECAUSE she thought she wouldn't be worthy of his love. The line "I guess you'll have to do the thinking for the both of us" was especially cringy.

I'm so torn because as much as I enjoyed the show, I never liked the "Arnolds parents are super important explorers and may still be alive and Arnold is a prophesied baby" idea. It steers too far from magical realism to outright pulp. Ultimately Arnold was probably the least interesting part of the show and more of a cipher to the world around him, so the concept of this movie just doesn't appeal much to me.

God, I loved that cartoon, because it was the only cartoon that was set in a big city.
As a big city kid, I couldn't make use with the suburban settings almost all cartoons seem to have (and where most cartoonists seem to have grown up in), but damn watching this one felt like I'm on my home turf.
Kids playing on the street, then scattering when a car arrives, the urban legends, it was the little things.

Before Craig even had a kindling of a chance to have the Jungle Movie be finished, he revealed a lot in the past at cons and other interviews.

If it's anything like the initial plan, his Parents plane did crash when they went on to help the Green-Eyed people but they both survived, albeit stranded in the jungle. Too far from civilization, they've been living among the natives helping them with their new-world knowledge. Supposedly, this was Eduado's doing as he apparently had ties to the villain, La Sombra, who vowed vengeance on Arnold's parents. Eduardo was also who lead Arnold to being captured by La Sombra in the original outline.

La Sombra also wasn't too fond of the Green-Eyes to begin with and seeing as they now worshiped Arnold (and later Helga, by extension) as well as being his arch enemies' kid, Arnold was to be used as a pawn to get the The Corazón back. The whole 'Arnold wins a writing contest' was a scheme whipped up by Eduado (Though, he was supposed to regret all this. He just had ties with La Sombra, for whatever reasons)

It's a shame, Bartlett said recently that when the Jungle Movie began it's re-production they found a ton of old assets created for the original project but that none of the them are being used in film (and probably won't ever see the light of day)

honestly i hope that arnold and helga don't end up together, not fully in a way that's neatly tied up with a bow at least. i hope helga tells arnold she likes him and he doesn't reject her exactly, but he refuses to date her since she's been so mean to him. i want her to have to prove she can treat him with dignity and for arnold to give her that chance and for the movie to imply that they eventually can get to a point where they can date, but not jump into that. helga's been a huge jerk to arnold for so long, she shouldn't get to just jump into a relationship with him that easily.
