Tuna's mom threw fastballs at a small child until she developed kung fu skills. I think getting thrown barely registers as "rough" with her.

In a vacuum I like Tuna being like this, but with the context of the first two chapters it doesn't feel right to me.
>>
>>91744783
Eh, she was shown to be trying to keep this part of her life suppressed, even took some convincing for her to train Poppy. (IIRC)
>>

I know, I'm just saying it retroactively makes the first two chapters less enjoyable, imo.

Remember when Poppy punched Valente so hard he broke a heavy town gate and landed a kilometer away?

The Poppyverse uses some cartoon physics, so people can survive way more than they normaly would in the real world.

I guess they have to, otherwise Poppy's punches would cause them to explode or something.

I was able to get one picture out of him, and then was backlogged with two pictures before his PC took a crap and refused to lift a finger until well after he had moved.

It would be one thing if he was gracious, but the fuck couldn't be more apathetic. The only thing I'd give to him was the fact he refunded EVERYTHING, including money I wasn't explicitly asking for.

I'd just like to point out that poppy threw back the ball so hard that Petunia COULD NOT DODGE HER IN TIME
Look at the fifth panel, she managed to block the ball at a mere few inches from her face, and in the sixth panel it's left spinning in the air
This means that poppy closed the gap between them (what seems to be about five or six meters) a fraction of a second slower than the ball she deflected, a ball that got THAT close to Ms Subconscious-Martial-Arts-Reflexes-Faster-than-The-Eye-Can-See-From-Strenuos-Training

>How is this bad plotting?
How did I imply this was the case?

I just dislike it. There's a big difference. I don't like the way it redefines previous events. That doesn't make the writing bad somehow, I just preferred it without this context.
>>
>>91762306
If you notice the position of Petunia's hand, Poppy(intentionally or not) flicked the ball right back into her face, thus when she raised her hand to block it, it(and the ball as well) blocked Petunia's view of what's in front of her, allowing Poppy to close in the gap without being noticed.
>>
>>91786176
I hope the flicking isn't just a one time thing, because it's stylish as fuck.
>>
A bit off topic, but was there any explanation to how ghosts/souls work in Poppyverse?

Like when that lizard monk dude got killed in the dragon ark and then was floating around in ghost form or was it his soul?
>>
>>91781719
shame he doesn't enforce the other global rules as fervently, I do get tired of the constant blatant shitposting OPs but they never disappear
>>
>>91786517
There was a worldbuilding update that I don't think ever got dumped.

>Souls
>In the Poppy universe, souls are a tangible concept that have been proven to exist and can be rendered visible to the naked eye via magic. There are NOT magical in nature, however, and opossums do not exert any influence over them.
>When most people think about souls, they think of some singular mass representing an individual, but this is a highly misguided view. A living creature usually contains, at any given moment, somewhere between 50,000 to 70,000 souls. These souls represent their current state of consciousness, and can come and go depending on the person's mindset. Things like fleeting feelings, opinions, memes and memories are all souls either produced within the mind, or picked up floating freely through the air.
>For example: a memory is not some perfect representation of a moment, but a generated concept within a part of the brain to be used as future reference. Any given memory will only store a single concept, such as a situation, and will be reliant on other memories to provide context with things like the faces and names of individuals within that situation.
>>
>>91786724
>A memory is, by nature, subjective, and can be corrupted by its surrounding thoughts and emotions. That corruption is a natural part of free will, and is essential to creating new mindsets, although it can have both good and bad outcomes. A negative person is highly susceptible to free-roaming souls that resonate those feelings, which can lead them into emotional feedback loops, such as depression. Conversely, someone with a positive mindset will attract positively resonating souls, which can color their worldview as very idealistic.
>Even though souls have an obvious effect on the mind, that does not mean they're what make people tick. A person's ability to think and form ideas is born from the chemical and biological processes within the brain. The best way of demonstrating this concept is to consider the relationship between a living person and a ghost.

>Ghosts
>A ghost is a complete mass of souls that has been permanently seperated from the body, most typically as a result of death. Under normal circumstances, a ghost is not capable of being seen or heard, and cannot physically interact with objects, but if a person were to, say, astrally project via magic and then die (Such as Master Mouf's fate), their souls would be locked within that projection, and continue to exist in an observable state until they lost their structure and fizzled out.
>>
>>91786752
>Ghosts are not capable of true thought. They are simply a representation of person's consciousness at the exact moment of their death. They cannot learn things, or come to new conclusions, or change their current emotional state, as those things all require changes within the brain. Even if you were to tie a dead person's ghost back to their original body, without a living brain, you'd only be creating a flesh construct with no real will of its own.
>Now, simply pulling a person's souls out would not produce a ghost, as their souls are naturally attracted back to their body, but for the sake of argument, if you could seperate a body and soul mass in some permanent manner, the ghost would eventually disappear into individual particles, but the body would continue to live, albeit confused and disoriented, without any memories or bias. They would eventually develop a new set of souls and move on.
>The concept of free-roaming souls raises many provoking questions and theories, such as whether a single running stream of consciousness truly exists, whether living things actually have true free will, and if there's some in-universe credence to concepts like morphic resonance, the subconscious exchange of ideas and memories between unrelated individuals.
>BUT ENOUGH OF THAT STUFF, NEXT WEEK WE'RE TALKING ABOUT FLORAN VIDEOGAMES
>>
>>91786252
It's just a nice consequence of her monstrous strength.

>picked up floating freely through the air
So that's how Petunia's mom mind reading works, she can CONSCIOUSLY pick up other people's soul bits.

>the body would continue to live, albeit confused and disoriented, without any memories
>without any memories
Interesting, is this how "mind key" that Lila used on Friedrich works? "Locking" the souls that contain specific memories. I guess there is a way to "unlock" them back though.

Poppy comes across as very street smart. To an extent.
She doesn't actually know anything about cities, she's naive, so that's a weird term to use, but still the best one. She's not an idiot, she's short tempered and doesn't expect much besides her strength to carry her through.
Independent, a bit impulsive, brave, able to think outside the box but she doesn't seem to posses any sense of long term planning. She's a very in the moment kind of person.

IMO it's okay for Poppy to have "dumb" or naive moments, as long as the point of it isn't "HA LOOK HOW MUCH OF A DUMBASS SHE IS" or something. I want the comic to treat her with respect. Also just don't make her dumb moments to be she thinks 1+1=11 or shit like that cause that's too dumb.
