Literally the other way around.
Originally Cheetah was just a hot woman in a cheetah costume. Then she became a hot chick with a Cheetah paint job. Then she became a slightly more animal like woman with a cheetah paint job. Then she became THIS.

The lack of cat-like lips and weirdly slanted eyes are the problem, she just needs to have a narrower jaw and bigger eyes. The thing about felines is that they already have beautiful traits that look reasonably feminine, trying to make them more bestial just turns them more masculine.

It's kind of ironic for this comic , though, that Marston chose the Cheetah for a powerful, sexy villain - and not the far more appropriate Leopard.

Why ironic? Because Marston was all about female empowerment and 'love bondage'.

Cheetahs cannot be bred in captivity - that is to say, in human captivity. In the wild, cheetahs reproduction involves one or more males hunting down a female and keeping her captive by running her down whenever she tries to get away. Then, they mate. They are keeping her prisoner to fuck her.
Cheetahs literally cannot conceive unless this happens. It has to do with ovulation and shit. Efficient! But it does make cheetahs the only species of vertebrate that I am aware of that HAS to be raped to get pregnant.

I wonder who the first writer will be to hit on this.

I will forever stick with the idea they should have went with a jaguar or leopard instead of a cheetah. Those two species actually have reps for being man eaters and are more dangerous to humans. Cheetahs may have the whole "gotta go fast" thing but they are some of the least threatening big cat species around. It also doesn't help they are the most easily domesticated big cat too to the point rehab centers have a hard time getting them back out into the wild.
