It's funny because it looks better in the second panel.
>all three panels don't look shitty
>>91731084
Just because the second panel looks better than the other two doesn't mean any of it looks good
>>91731038
Gabe's front bang is the size of Tycho's head
>mfw 1998 was 20 years ago
Do people really think early Penny Arcade looks better than how it looks now?
>>91731438
Early Penny Arcade looks amateur. Modern Penny Arcade looks disgusting. I just find disgusting to be more offensive than amateur.
>>91731438
Before it was just regular bad. Now it's embarrassingly bad.
>>91731478
That was the goal all along.
>>91731438
See, he started bad, and then his art improved until it looked good. And then he decided he needed to "improve" some more, and it went back around to being bad again but in a different way.
>>91731387
nearly.
>>91731038
If they went back ten years and stuck with that style, then I'd be cool with it.
Also, the thumbnail makes the third panel look almost like Tycho forcing Gabe to deepthroat him if you just glance at it quickly. No homo.
>>91731728
Yep. Prime PA right there.
How could he even make them more ridiculous at this pointother than making them look like their real selves
>>91731788
He could always bring back tumblr-nose. Or get "experimental" with color techniques. I don't even want to think about how he could manage to jank his actual art up further.
Yuck got crappier.
>>91731540
>>91731728
I always felt like PA looked best around 2006/2007. They'd come into their own, but it didn't get too stylized.
>>91731038
That looks so much better though
>>91731038
Definitely better from a technical perspective now.
>>91731438
It's the same reason people bitch at Steven Universe. People don't know jack shit about stylization or expressiveness and just scream MUH MODEL SHEETS
>>91732250
the humor peaked then too.
then they became parents, had a media empire that made them responsible for friends ability to pay their mortgages and started taking psychiatric drugs, turning them into average Greater Seattle bobo duchebags.
>>91731038
> they can't even get the style right and the lines are scratchy as fuck with tiny contour lines Gabe only used sparingly
>>91731387
Shit, I know that video...
>>91731438
2001-2005 era was GOAT
>>91732866
Isn't it not being drawn by Gabe anyway?
Since there's no /hywc/ thread and I'm always nervous about making new threads:
Could a webcomic hypothetically prop itself up on worldbuilding and atmosphere alone, while telling relatively boring or mundane stories?
>>91733209
Like, day-to-day life, but in a really cool and interesting world with a great atmosphere? So kinda like a fantasy slice-of-life comic? I bet that could work. In fact, I'm sure it already has.
>>91731438
I think the point is that I'd rather look like a crappy cartoon of someone attractive from 10 years ago than a good drawing of someone really ugly now.
>>91733209
>>91733561
Or like Questionable Content is trying to do?
>>91733209
Not really? I mean I honestly wouldn't give a shit about some mystical land if all I see of it is just it's denizens doing jack shit
>>91733209
That's basically all wecomics aruond. Really few are strictly plot oriented. simply because once they get some following, they know it's better to make it last.
>>91732866
You can't just unlearn how to draw
>>91735120
sure you can
>>91735390
>>91735435
I just assumed those cutscene illustrations all had to be shat out in a week or less.
>>91731038
Old PA had that kinda newspaper comic look back in the day. Reminds me a little of Calvin and Hobbes in a way. Their midway between then and their current style was their peak though.
>>91735390
even though that's skecthed out it's still technically good
>>91735390
Don't you mean shoryuken?
>>91735120
It's not about unlearning, it's about standardizing bad practices. If you do something one way and enjoy the result, you're encouraged to do it again. Long enough habits like this can compound and create new styles. The current style is too loose and loopy in attempt while being lazy at layout, making it just look flatly bad. The combination of stylization attempts are shortcuts to imply energy/personality in the characters, like the clothing wrinkles and the mouth shapes, but they've been exaggerated to the point of becoming meaningless blobs. It's almost abstractly bad, which is admittedly impressive in its own right. The "ghost artist" thing is just a meme when the actual answer is kinda sad.
You also have to look at it from a brand perspective as well, since PA still does a lot of artwork for companies and shit, and they sell that style, which means distilling the properties that are conceivably marketable, i.e. those stylistic shortcuts. All in all, it's just a ridiculous mess, and that's assuming complete competency in intent.
>>91735526
That pretty much was the case. The artist in question has more or less disowned the sketches as sub-par.
>>91733209
>>91733561
What isZoophobia?
>>91731038
It really doesn't, OP. I know the comic is unfunny as balls now but the art did actually improve a lot.
>>91732250
That was the perfect storm of them really honing their craft, having a bit more budget, and gaming giving them plenty to talk about.
>>91731038
The current style is fine except for the huge hair.
Shitty web comics you say?
>>91737441
Is this Loss in reverse?
>>91735390
>>91735435
The fundamentals and style barely changed. He just had less time to polish and render detail.
>>91737441
I just want to know that if genitals are irrelevant, if clothing is irrelevant, and if gender roles are irrelevant then what makes the child a female?
>>91737539
No, sadly it's just Loss without the failed baby actually dying.
>>91737651
thats something everyone has to figure out for themsef
>>91737441
What the shit is this? I'm pretty liberal, but this is just cringy bad.
>>91738272
It's a preachy contradictory webcomic about a piece of shit confused child that even trans people hate
>>91738272
>He hasn't read assigned male
>>91737441
>Six year olds talking about their genitals and their bodies
>That butch mom most likely brainwashed her into parroting it
Sad part is this has probably happened for real somewhere.
>>91738478
You think talking like that is bad? What eleven year old talks like this?
At least the art's good, I guess.
>>91731387
It's 19, not 20.
I was born in 1998.
>>91739789
Seems alright from what I read. Why didn't you like it?Too much Pan venting?
>>91737651
Or, on the other hand, what makes her trans?
>>91732250
>Jamba and juice
Fuck that's good
>>91732250
This strip is good, but the second Kevin strip is possibly the best one they've ever done.
>>91732250
I fucking love 2000-2010 Penny Arcade.
Why I am so bald?
>>91742561
I can't look at these without getting mad.
Realizing Assigned Male exists makes me nostalgic for when Moon over June was the worst thing I'd seen
>>91742824
MOJ is still worse because it's the repulsive art that's the issue
AM requires comprehension
>>91738391
>>91737441
there is absolutely no way these aren't written by a secret "anti-sjw"
Anyone with gender dysphoria, or related to someone with gender dysphoria, would familiarize themselves with the difference between gendera social constructand biological sex.
If you go to the doctor's, you tell them your biological sex. This is not a transphobia thing, it's so the doctor knows what is inside of you.
I fucking hate everyone.
>>91732250
I don't understand why PA keeps changing the art style. Most comics change over time, but most of them settle into a groove. For example, Garfield in 1978 looks different than Garfield in 1990, but Garfield today look the same as it did in 1990. I can't think of any other comics that perpetually changed other than PA.
>>91743479
Circle eye Garfield was the best Garfield
Is penny arcade even drawn by the same person anymore? I know the art's always changed over time but I remember their transition to tumblr noses being pretty sharp.
>>91742580
Am I going mad or does this feel like a loss reference?
>>91743452
It's made by an actual tranny tho who also works at an kindergarten indoctrinating kids
>>91737441
Now post Assigned Dale.
>>91731038
>playing on the switch
>no joycons attached
For a Web comic centered around vidya you'd think they'd bother getting the details right.
>>91744177
>it's allowed to interact with children
>>91742579
Good tastes
>>91743479
I don't mind the new art but 2000 -2010 were probably best beacause the stylization wasn't out of control.
>>91737441
I like this if I think that the joke is that the mother is willing to take her child home and let him die because she's afraid to step on any toes by clarifying his biological sex, that having a dead child is literally better than offending SJWs
>>91744747
I STILL have no idea what that second panel means.
>>91737441
>>91738391
Am I missing something? This looks like it's mocking SJW's, not the opposite.
>>91743506
This. That was when he was at his cutest. Any Garfield merchandise I have is from the 80s style
>>91746340
That's what makes it so hilarious.
You can never tell if it's supposed to be supporting or opposing trannies.
>>91738391
>I'm not in the wrong body
>It's society and science that is wrong
>Nature is always correct in what it does
That's like saying being born with a missing limb is a totally normal and no different than someone born with all their limbs. If it was normal, then there should be an equal number of people no limbs to people with limbs, but there isn't. There was something along the development from embryo to fetus that caused the deformation whether it was from their genes itself or outside forces such as chemicals getting into the system of the mother and them affecting the development of the limbs. That was case of Vietnamese women giving birth to children with undeveloped limbs due to them being exposed to Agent Orange in the Vietnam War.
Sorry to say but there obviously is something not exactly correct about you biologically. We still don't what causes people to be born with the mentality of the opposite gender or anyone in the LGBT community for that matter. All we know is it has something to do with genetics and in some cases the environment the individual grew up in.
