Not really, Canadian cartoon *writing* has always been terrible regardless of animation quality. If anything it has improved slightly in the modern era, with the likes of Fred's Head and Detentionaire.

At least they're trying. Corus' channel don't need to change because they have a majority of the market and brand recognition. DHX's channels have literally had to reinvent themselves. They have potential to actually compete if the company had any ambition at all.

They're not trying at all. In fact, Corus is the one trying, because the lion's share of their revenue comes from TV channels, which are struggling everywhere these days. DHX is almost entirely financed by its massive content library, which is only going up in value as far as I'm aware. They don't have much of an incentive to give a shit.
