On stone and when actively 'looking' she has a range much further than you'd normally notice movement. However something that's not really addressed is how much sensory input she can process at once. The most we see is in the large fight scenes such as against the Dai Li when she's simultaneously attacking and defending against a dozen or so enemies, so she could probably monitor everyone in a medium-sized building if she tried.

4chan is surprisingly accessible. As for hearing it in monotone, reading by ear is a lot like reading by sight and you hear text with an internal voice you give it after enough practice. Although a lot of modern text-to-speech at high enough speed does have pretty good expression; not quite Siri levels of expression, but close.

And to throw my two cents in on Toph and Katara's makeup in the short story where the bitchy girls made fun of them: pretty sure the spa people did their makeup for them.

I have news for you about blindness and legal definitions!

Blindness is like hearing loss and there are a lot of degrees to it. Almost nobody is totally blind. People who are blind range from no sight, only being able to see shadows, to limited but sort of functional vision. I've got about 1/10th of a working eye, no depth perception, no peripheral vision, no distance vision. When you're blind enough to need the cane and/or the dog (which I am), you don't split hairs about semantics. But this is all stuff that basically nobody with sight is aware of, so I get where the misconceptions come from.
