See, for my part, that's why Punk and most other HunkxX pairings don't really appeal to me: relationships with Hunk have little to nothing to do with adding to his character. Hunk is, for the most part, the most down to earth and less up their own ass of the whole cast, thus him pairing up with the basket cases around him does nothing to elaborate upon this seemingly immobable object of knowledge and practicality. Hunk is basically everyone's rock by comparison and thus offers nothing in terms of narrative, character development, or plot pairing him off with anyone we have seen.

In real life, Hunk would probably end up in the happiest marriage of the whole crew and that would be interesting on its own, but in a story like Voltron, such relationship don't hold all that much weight and importance as far as I'm concerned.

Now, now, do understand, I am not saying don't do it. I am just saying why, to me, Hunk shipping isn't interesting and why I don't do it.

The flipside of my argument is actually this: shipping anyone with Hunk works remarkably well, even if its boring, because in this case it's just boring because Hunk goes with everything. There's very little ways I can imagine Hunk not figuring out a way to complement whoever he's paired with exactly because he's, essentially, everything one could want in a realistic one rather than Prince Charming. Hunk being a rock wasn't a random choice, Hunk works to ground everyone else and serve as a base for them to develop into better people.

Lance might cause Hunk to be confident and sure of himself more often. Likewise, Hunk might have Lance slow down to consider his actions and words more than he does.

Personally, I feel what you're describing works more for Shiro. Shipping is neat when the pair (trio?) balance each other out and push each other to new heights, so let's look at the flaws of each
