Alfonzo and Ferguson are worthless, Pixtopia the place feels like a lot of nothing, mainly because the plot goes by too fast to even give a damn about it or feel like it's a "real" setting and not just a setpiece for some dumbass episodic cartoon hijinks. Which this episode fucking is. It's not even totally bad really, but if this is what OMG OTHER DIMENSIONS are like then I think it's actually a good thing the show doesn't do much of that.

>2. All Belts Are Off
I'm not even sure if this is bad so much as I don't get why this season had such focus on Sensei. I do find it offputting that this seems to be the only episode where no magic or supernatural elements or anything occur at all. Weird.

>1. The Banagic Incident
Annoying throughout, Star at her worst but not in an interesting way. The ending is surprisingly relevant for later episodes' themes but the buildup to it all isn't worth it.

>3. Quest Buy
Fun episode, uses interdimensional travel in an actually interesting way, good use of Ludo for such an early episode. Has references to older episodes and foreshadowing for stuff later in the season at a time when most episodes didn't do that. Didn't stand out to me when I first watched it but it's really held up over time.

>2. Mr. Candle Cares
Actually good use of the school setting, use of other extradimensional characters besides Star/monsters coming to Earth is something not done enough. Nice character development, kind of sad and thoughtful in parts. Garbage Island. Rebel Star. I haven't really seen anyone who likes this as much as me but it's really strong.

>1. Bon Bon the Birthday Clown
Everyone's said it all already. Good emotions, plot, use of all the characters, everything. Nice callbacks to older episodes. "Waiting for Me." If every episode were at this level I'd think the show was absolutely perfect.

They hooked up because they've been making eyes at each other for years without really knowing much about each other.

I think the key is that Marco will need time to think about his feelings for Star.

As of right now, he hasn't shown any feelings (romantically) for Star post-BMB (which was the only indication that Marco ever had any sort of romantic interest in Star). If they give most of the season for Marco to figure things out-which would be ideal-then it will seem more organic when he becomes willing to try things out with Star.

the only issue I see is that in that AU, I'm not really seeing how Star helps Marco be a better person, and thus there's not really a reason to root for Starco over Jarco (assuming Jackie's also one of the only nice people to MonStar, which would be a good addition to add more suffering to the falling in love bit) other than pity for MonStar.

3. Bon Bon the Birthday Clown
What hasn't been said yet about Bon Bon. It was a great emotional and development episode, combined with a timely attack at Star's most vulnerable that had major consequences and added a threat level to Ludo who had mostly been a joke villain in the series.
2. Into the Wand
This one gives me chills to watch. The little details like pic related when she first walks into the school, the amount of foreshadowing and plot setup the episode does, and giving us a look at Star's royal heritage made for a really great serious episode.
1. Storm the Castle
Everything I could have wanted in a season finale to show they were serious about what they were making. Seeing how much Star cares about Marco, coming right after the knife to the heart line where she wonders why they are friends at all. The rescue fight sequence was great, I loved seeing Star truly pissed off. Buff Frog's change of heart that turned him into a solid side character. And Star's attempts to destroy the box Marco was in looked great and had so much feeling behind them. She even destroys the wand for him when it fails, her family heirloom, the source of her power, all for that boy who's just her best friend. Right?

3. Trickstar
The episodes where the antagonist is some completely new and convenient to the plot magical being from another dimension is so lazy and badly written. An episode where Star destroys Sensei's belief in magic would have been so much better
2. Fetch
Just a bad filler episode. Talking dog from another dimension they can't get the wand back from, and Marco can't open a fucking juice box. Watery plot and bad characters.
1. Pizza Thing

Probably the most pointless episode in the series, with a really stupid, bizarre, and uninteresting plot, and no redeeming qualities like cute Starco moments or half-decent comedy.

I guess it's supposed to be a bonding episode, but Marco and Pony Head still have zero chemistry and this episode doesn't convince you they could. If anything their relationship is worse than it was after "St. Olga's." Just a pointless and grating episode all around.

Another pointless episode, but what makes this worse is that it's set up by Marco freaking Star out for no reason. Basically out of character for him and while they try to make it better by revealing he was looking for her at the end, it would have been a lot better to see that instead of an episode full of lolrandum nonsense.
Honorable mention goes to Star on Wheels which has an even stupider plot and similarly OOC setup but at least has some cute Starco and Glossaryck shenanigans.

Pretty much everyone agrees "Ludo in the Wild" and "Bon Bon the Birthday Clown" are excellent episodes and they've been discussed plenty, so I'll leave them out.

Just an excellent episode all around. The atmosphere is amazing, "serious" plot with some great humor, gives a ton of interesting lore with very well done minimalist presentation, shows off Glossaryck and Star's relationship at its best. Definitely one of the best short episodes.

Nice, solid episode all around. Consistently entertaining from start to finish and it's a good examination of Star's character. A lot of fluff with Star's family and we get to see Moon being a mom for once.

They get renewals/cancellations around the time they're like halfway through production of the next season. Some on the crew weren't expecting a 4th season.

However, since they found out about that in November or so of last year, December at the absolute latest, and finished Season 3 storyboards about a week ago, all the plots probably won't resolve at the end of the upcoming season since they had time to avoid that.

One storyboarder said in response to a fan asking that they think the 4th season will be necessary to continue the story etc., which seems like pretty much a guarantee it won't end with TOFFEE'S DEAD EQUALITY IS REACHED STARCO CONFIRMED. That will probably be wrapped up in the 4th season and/or additional plotlines will be added to stretch it out a bit too.

It's been renewed at about the same time every year for three years now, and Season 3 will premiere at roughly the same time Season 2 did.
One of the show's biggest strengths is how well the story has been planned so far, with the plot never wandering aimlessly and plenty of foreshadowing, even in stuff that seems like gags or just background detail. Hell, they revealed that Queen Eclipsa is still alive just by having her in the background for a few seconds among a dozen other nameless villains and monsters.
On top of that, it's definitely not coincidental that right after the Season 2 finale they released a guidebook full of worldbuilding for Mewni and other information that has never come up in the show yet. We're not going to run out of story or content anytime soon; if anything we're only just now moving into the meat of it.

When one "season" of a show is "split up" by having a mid-season "finale," followed by the second half of the season premiering a few weeks/months later.
SVTFOE did this with Season 2, with "Bon Bon the Birthday Clown" being the 2a finale in November, and the second half resuming in February with "Raid the Cave."

Imo it's much more normal to ask the person as part of getting to know them, it'd be creepy as fuck to go out with someone and have them already know a lot of stuff you've never told them, "oh yeah I asked your friends", what the hell
