The Kryptonian names used to be a clusterfuck for ages with no logic to it before somebody came up with a bullshit excuse to explain it. It's not that big of a deal, it's confusing even to comic people who haven't bothered to research it, so simplifying it for clarity's sake is alright in my book. You could even just say the naming tradition changed in two generations.

Keep in mind we're now in a situation where there's plenty of interest for women to keep their own name, men potentially taking their wife's surname or where the child doesn't automatically have to get their father's surname. Speak nothing of the old tradition of just combining surnames.

Kimmy Schmidt had the same issue. Super funny first season, show canned after it finished filming. They sold it to Netflix for a great first season. Season 2 comes out, the show is completely different and sucks ass.

BvS had concepts that they could've & should've used later that would've been more impactful. DCEU literally tries so hard to make a DCEU that it fails because it's rushing everything. It's why MCU was so liked is because it took it's damn time to let you be familiar with the characters in that particular universe. It's why Man of Steel is the only decent movie it's produced and why BvS is so lackluster & SS is so shit.
And before you say it, yea, the MCU IS growing tiresome, but that's cause they keep playing it safe even though they really shouldn't after already establishing enough to get the viewer settled in & interested from the first phase.
