OP is wrong, actual previous thread: >>91593407
>>
I wish I had a beta version of my comic to talk about, but currently still developing stuff. Trying to figure out a good amount of characters to use, cuase I usually brainstorm too many characters.
>>
>>91648903
man do I ever hear that.
The sad thing is, when the time comes to include a new character for a small role, it's really hard sometimes to think of one. I think we ought to keep a few in reserve for situations like that
>>
>>91648961
That's what I do. I just save a lot of my old character designs and when I realize I need a new character to fill a certain role, I just throw in some character I drew up a few months ago. A lot of these characters ended up getting much larger roles in the story than I anticipated, though.
>>
We could talk about stuff like comics and designs, or love...

I love me some love in comics

>>91649441
Romance in comics? Now we're talking. Give me some of that fluffy shoujo shit, I love it.
>>
>>91648961
>>91649413

Guess its never a bad idea to have some ideas or characters in reserve, you never know when it can come in handy. Whats a good number of characters to start with? Guess it depends on what kind of story your trying to write.
>>
>>91649610
I have a soft spot for just-one-character stories, at least if they start that way and slowly build. Once you have three you're kinda on your way towards a large cast and can't really come back, unless they have a special dynamic
>>
how do I make my lines look good?
right now i'm completely digital but I'm considering getting a scanner and doing it by hand.
>>
>>91650379
you've gotta do long, quick strokes. confidence is impossible, but you can fake it by doing the same line over and over and undoing it every time until it's right. It's actually faster than doing that one line slowly.
>>
>>91650379
Try drawing from your elbow rather that your wrist. Hold your wrist still and move your forearm with your elbow to make long, smooth strokes.

So I made a post about a week ago regarding a series I wanted to start about boxing supernatural beings, the idea originated from my fear of sleep paralysis and how I wish I could just knock the fuck out of my fears.

So after a bit, I drew up the main character and a rough draft logo.
I've decided to call the series 'Ghost Puncher' as it's short, simple, and tells you everything you need to know.

As for a quick synopsis:
Atlas Haskell, son of the fallen priest of San Francisco, Aargus Haskell, wishes to carry on his fathers beliefs in heaven in an alternative way. Atlas wishes to box demons, spirits, ghosts and other supernatural beings with his own two fists, due to an ancient roman contract that ensures the absolute demise of any demonic beast who loses in the ring with a human. Atlas takes calls around California, eliminating a variety of supernatural creatures with his ultimate goal to face "El Jefe De Los Muertos", Death himself, The Under-World Heavy Weight Champion. and eliminate the world of fear itself.
Atlas is accompanied by Rachel Morgue, a religious woman who helps coach him through tough matches, using her catholic powers to bless his fists, as well as a few other faces (still brainstorming)

Those are the basics, and I promise you it's not a monster of the week.
It's a paranormal horror comedy, with some crazy boxing fights.
It'll take a while till I start chapter one but I promise it'll happen.
Always open to feedback! Thanks!

Getting tired of drawing for tumblr notes, wanna start my own comic.
Science fiction, sort of like Firefly but funny and set in our solar system with autistic attention to "real science," ie, no warp/magictech, setting is boring Hard SF background.

Question is, furry or not furry?
(Figure they could be decedents of uplifted animals after humans are long gone)
All things being the same, think there is any advantage retaining readership over humans??
>>
>>91662307
>Question is, furry or not furry?

Literally who cares.
>>
>>91662307
I'd go with furries just because I think those animal designs have more charm than their human counterparts. The issue might be that some people might avoid your comic just because of the furries, but at the same time you might gain more furry readers so? It's your call.
>>
>>91659890
cool
>>
>>91661958
this needs a little tweaking and a little research and a decent amount of art practice and you've got an absolute classic on your hands.
>>
>>91662307
I'd read it
If you do go furry, I implore you to take the Thundercats 2011 route and make it explicit that different levels of furryness are part of their biology for a reason, so they aren't all just this one consistent level, and you don't have the confusion of why there's also still some animals around.
there's no real advantage but if you're gonna do hard scifi and still allow for genetic fuckery, then at least include some nonhumans. Mutates, aliens, some kind of experimented-on guinea pigs..

Well, people do care, vocally so, at least pretend to.
Just wanted some feedback.
>>91662732
I understand, thank you.

>>91663322
If you mean the discrepancy between human animals vs animal animals, I figured humans in this story either died out, left the system, and or became post-human AI whatnots and animal peoples who colonized the solar system are descendants of experiments to make manimal hybrids, so there are "natural" animals too but mostly extinct in whatever long history lost to time.

I did think about this, taking cartoon animals people somewhat "realistically."
Like having bird/dragon folk be able to fly even with humanoid body types fly in the lower gravity of Mars or in space stations made for them...
The various races would recognize each other's sentient rights nominally, but could fight/eat each other in case of carnivores and would have had a long bloody history amongst them.

I assume stuff like this has been done before, I not not too familiar with long history furry community must have with anthropological worldbuilding, and really, it's more of an homage to pulp SF of 1930's filtered through my own autism love of hard SF and drawing funny animal people.
>>
>>91663873
actually very little furry stuff ever pays attention to the logistics of them being furries, any kind of worldbuilding to it. what I mean is like some of them might look more human than others.. due to which animals they are they might NEED that (like there's no good way to do a snake). But if they're 'uplifted' animals in scifi it's not that weird if their humanness varies. some might not even have tails, others might have almost entirely animallike parts all the way down to the paws, yknow it can vary and provide variety.
in thundercats some of them were almost just painted-up humans, others were pretty much cats standing up, but since they were all mumm-ra's engineered slaves having crashed on some planet and lived there for ages, it made sense

>>
>>91664064
Interesting, so that's the 2011 canon?
What I remember from the originals shows really didn't say or care, they were just toys is what I assumed they went with.

Aren't snakes done as scalie humans with snake head or the lamia snake bottom half?
>>
>>91662732
>gain more furry viewers
The best and worst of sonic fandom.
The best and worst of Undertale fandom.
The best and worst of MLP fandom.
The best and worst of any medium with animal characters....

Yeah good luck pal, I like animal characters but if my fans obsess over them sexual I feel like I'm not using these characters to there full potential.

Not that human characters aren't better, just make em how you WANT them to appear. If you want some animals then do, if human then do. If your depending on looks to convey charm... AHAHAHAHAHA good luck with that.
>>91662307
If you want my OPINION furries in space is ez, in fact too ez. Just make em furries and have different planets have different species. If you put all species on one planet anyone who understands what can come from extraterrestrial life knows beings from diff planets wont be the same damn dog with floppy ears and a wet nose...

With humans it then gets tricky, because now you'll have to create creatures with different anatomy to native earth creatures.
I'd go for a crew with different species though, not because of "muh diversity" or "muh charm and pandering" but think man if everyone's human or furry whats the true purpose of the story? whats different if it's all furries (oh god all the furry porn and no story...)if it's all human (then we truly are alone in the universe) if a large variety of alien (... what else could be possible, living rocks, sentient gas and energy or hell maybe some beyond alien)

In the end its either you want mediocre/ furry porn, role playing and a furry of the month award OR MAYBE something new and interesting...

> you as an artist are not a liar, you convey KNOWLEDGE and the VISIBLE to your audience. You should never idly draw mediocre, GO for the extraordinary. Every drawing, every stroke is a piece of you being put to display.

Go big bro, you should even worry about looks of the main characters. You should be caring about who they are.
>>
>>91664157
Porn is so boring after a while, I regret it now that somebody will always link the styles and find me out, eventually.
>>
>>91664207

>>91664276
Plausible deniability, just say it's an impostor! In my defense, my commission fetishes are mostly vanilla.
>>
>>91664266
I've been told by many people that the key is let your fans draw all the kinky shit and keep the comic focused on the story, which seems to be common sense.
>>
>>91664266
Why do anons get so autistic when furshit is brought up, for or against...
>>
>>91662307
I don't know how much you like furry characters, but I wouldn't.
>>
>>91664399
When they start making large amounts, then they won't care about the story. If character A has X amount of porn people dont care what A does in the story as long as they can gush over A.

Best example is when A dies and never comes back it's a guarantee, those people will not care. A was just Waifu/Fap material... Sad but it happens.

I hope that never happens to my characters.
>>91664444
Meh you were austistic enough to mention it as well anon. Were all on the same sinking ship.
Nice Dubs...

>>
I wanna start a 10 chapter webcomic but I'm stuck on a couple things still.

Where the fuck could one host their comic?
And follow up question, what or where's the best way to advertise said comic?
And lastly... profit?
>>
>>91664235
yeah in the 80s they gave zero fucks, most characters weren't really any particular race, they were just.. action figure-americans.
the thunderians in the 80s show were meant to be an alien race, and while they were relatively consistent in their look, you still had to wonder why they had invidual races that resembled and were named after earth cats.

those are two ways to do snake furries, but neither one is consistent with the way cat and dog furries usually get done, which in turn is pretty different from how horse ones work, see? so it's better if you have it explicit in your rules that their gene pool is really varied.
personally with snake furries I prefer them to be salamander-shaped. so they still have arms and legs, but they're stubby, and the body is long.

That's just fandom, not furries, not much you can do about it, I used to be big into Harry Potter way back, there are crazies anywhere.

>>91664460
I wouldn't consider myself a furry or part of the community, I supposed I've retained, like a lot of /co/ anon, fondness for ye olde cartoons of the ancient lost past of the 90's.
I prefer what the kids call "kemono" more than "mainstream" furry art, guess I prefer the toony style more than true snouts.
I also think part of it is getting tired of the ongoing culture wars and the diversity minefield.

What if you want to do porn comics AND regular comics?

Or rather, not really straight-up porn, but like, one that actually contains some sex/erotica?

Also, what is the opinion you guys have of people who do both regular comics, and erotica? Is that looked down upon? Do people really only "dislike" sex and nudity in comics just because they're "supposed" to?
>>
>>91665051
dude i'm the only one that does study what makes the human animal awesome. everyone else seems obsessed with erasing or denying it
but in the meantime animals are objectively cooler. the only thing we're really good at is endurance, and we're still shit at that.
well okay, dexterity. we've got hella points in dexterity
>>
>>91665136
As long as you focus on the AND, I think it's a great idea. They should be separate, not because of some issue of propriety, but simply because one gets in the way of the other if it's a sudden swerve. By all means, have your regular comic, have your porn comic, AND have one with some ecchi in it. Make a new sandwich with everything that fits on bread. Just don't try peanut butter and ham. I mean, try it, but don't make six of them before you've tasted one.
>Is that looked down upon
everything is, by someone. The real issue is that having even one nipple disqualifies you from all major advertisers, but not being full-on porn makes it hard to use porn advertisers (which you don't want anyway. and definitely don't join some weird cartel like Slipshine)
>Do people really only "dislike" sex and nudity in comics just because they're "supposed" to?
abso-goddamn-lutely. But naturally they'll never admit it.
>>
>>91665136
Burgers are crazy and will assume you are a sick sex offender if you draw anything more interesting than missonary sex for procreative purposes by a loving couple, all the while fapping to nasty shit.
>>
>>91665136
The problem is that whichever one gets popular first kind of marks you as a creator of it. So, if you're popular as a normal comic maker and then go into porn comics, you'll lose a lot of respect and future opportunities. On the other hand, if you do porn and then try to break into normal comics, you'll have a very, very hard time if your name is too heavily tainted.
>>
>>91664991
Furries aren't animals, they talk, do tasks and think outside of their own basic needs. They are essentially humans with snouts and cat ears bolted on to them and it's a mistake that people attribute human qualities to animals.
There is no reason why you shouldn't have a comic with human in it unless you really hate the sight of your own species.
>animals are cooler than humans
Animals never invented robots.
Robot you can have sex with even.
Take that Bambi
>>
>>91665217
That has been disproven time and time again, but it still happens to some people. I would say a much bigger issue is that if you do porn then make a non-porn comic, your fans will be like "fuck you Dave Cheung, where's the porn? when do we get to the good part?"
>>
>>91665228
How about if I was a filthy dogfucker degenerate and wanted to spread my sick fetish to kids everywhere to raise future deviants???
>>
>>91665228
We're talking about anatomical details here, not lifestyle. People who draw furry comics where the furries are 100% human in their lifestyle, dress, and attitude are missing the point so hard it makes me want to whizz in the coffee they probably drink, fucking normies.
think about it, what makes robots so cool? they're strong and fast and have cool attachments like claws or missile launchers or segmented armor
>>
>>91665141
And creativity, sentience, pattern recognition, calculations, reproduction (most populated species baby), longevity, child rearing, spirituality, Dangerous, Peaceful and etc.... Human do alot of shit.

Don't get me wrong animals are cool, but I'd rather be human than an animal that could never truly understand the world beyond instinct. But hell they got it easier that us at least all they have to do is pass on their genes to help with the circle of life.
>>
>>91665217
>On the other hand,
or rather, on the same hand, since you just said the same thing twice and contradicted your first sentence.
>>
>>91665228
How about if I wanted to depict underage sex but with puppies and kittens instead of children?
>>
>>91665285
>most populated species baby
what? we're among the slowest reproducers. only elephants come to mind as being slower. there's like 200 billion chickens on earth
anyway those things are all great, but not a single one of them is -cool-
nobody's cool for getting good grades, they're cool for riding motorcycles and being tall and muscular

That sounds freaking adorable. I'm imagining that one artist... what's his name? He does all the transformation stuff except unlike almost all other transformation stuff, it's not cringey and weirdly fetishy.
In any case, if they're actually having sex, meaning genitals are functioning, then it's not really underage, is it?
If one of them is underage then they aren't participating in sex, they're just being injured in the genitals by other genitals. or not, depending on the roughness involved.
>>
>>91665346
solid, brother. i'm tired too. let's both go to bed.
not like, in the same bed. in our own beds. I mean unless you're cold, I can share heat. that's just polite. and until this last century it wasn't really weird to anyone.
>>
>>91665190

See, that's the thing though. I really don't get that attitude most Americans have. I'm American myself, and I never really understood it....Some people just want to have fun and feel good, so why is casual sex such a bizarre concept, especially since all around the world most people are open to the idea depicting nudity and/or sex in comics.

I just don't get it.

>>91665217

I dunno. I think (hope) it would also come down to how good you are at story telling too. Because I more want "A good story, also with some steamy bits in it" as opposed to balls-to-the-wall porn.

But I think (hope) that if you throw out there that your intent is to do both from the beginning, I'd hope people would be receptive of it. And realistically, I don't even really intend to just do straight up porn, more like an actual story with some sex and nudity in it.
>>
>>91665361
Like a kitty equivalent to a 13 year old?
>>
>>91665305
That's called cubporn.
>>
>>91665391
casual sex is completely and utterly wrong. casual nudity is obviously right. associating sex and nudity is the american mistake, which naturally led to more casual sex and more misery, as people broke the bonds of incorrect morality but then abandoned any kind of restraint whatsoever. it's not healthy and nobody is enjoying it longterm.

as for DEPICTIONS, all depictions are right. For some reason nobody gets the hypocrisy of having popular murder mysteries or heroic action stories about killing villains in our fiction for literally as long as fiction has existed, but not worrying that reading about murders makes you murder.. then treating other subjects differently.
But when you pull that thread, people start trying to censor murder. so there you go
>>
>>91665327
This guy isn't living life up as a human so he pretends to be an animal for fun.
>I finally understand why PEOPLE are furries, they can't be cool humans!

You a human that has literal access to most of human knowledge and data AND can literal know and do anything if you set your goals and take appropriate measures in living up in life, yet you're pretending to be an animal not even contributing to the study of SAID animal...
Again I'm damn lucky I'm human if I was an animal I'd be bored to tears...
>>
>>91665391
By far the biggest complaint about Game of Thrones was the casual nudity and sex.
It's the "if I wanted to fap, I'd be watching porn" angle, it dovetails nicely with both the Christian right and the feminist left.
>>
>>91665411
Depends. As far as I can tell, the margin of error is so large (something like 8-9 years) that it's useless to use numbers. A 13 year old could be a full-grown adult or a tiny wee babby child.
I guess I was imagining the kitty equivalent of a kitty who has reached...
>lookin it up
well there you go, same large margin of error. some kitties are ready for catsex with other cats for the purposes of making kittens at 5 months, others aren't til 10 months. But the point is once they hit that number, all the other cats know it.
>>
>>91665489
Then again, going by a lot of recent TV (in America AND Japan, at the very least) you can depict sex in all manner of deviant forms, just as long as you hide the nudity. So make of that what you will. Archer and Lana just humpin' away, but no nipples visible so it gets the FX midnight-airing seal of approval.
>>
So I'm an artist with a webcomic already running and I want to try drawing some porn comics. My style is fairly recognizable, and I don't want to have too much of my porn directly associated with my sfw work, should I try drawing porn comics in a different art style?
>>
>>91665499
Think yer confusing cartoon animals with self insert fursonas, brah.
>>
>>91665502
I have never heard that complaint and neither have you. The only common complaint is that the women get sexy nudity while the men get the sexless, limp nudity.
Anyone who actually likes to fap will tell you that porn is awful and boring, but a tastefully erotic movie with a sexy situation is way more effective.
>>
>>91665499
This is the same way I feel about non-white protagonists.
>>
>>91665540
It's not a bad idea. For example you could go a lot more realistic, if your usual comic is more stylized. That's what the Rock Cocks artist did. Kind of a shame, since when we first heard she was doing porn, we were elated. Her usual style was so cute. The resulting first draft of Rock Cocks was decidedly ugly, but the new reformat is.. prettier, very hot, but not cute anymore. Way heavier on the realism and detail
>>
>>91665540
Draw furshit, it'll stay in the fur ghetto and if outed, everyone will understand you needed money.
>>
What ever happened to scandinavian webcomics? I remember when they were everywhere. French ones too. They all had casual nudity and fun fantasy settings with fairies and elves and witches and things.
The closest thing still kicking is Ink Dolls, which I think is italian, and has that fun playful casual feel but unfortunately looks really traced from photographs
>>
>>91665499
Just think of them as multicolored people with tails.
>>
>>91665596
I do seem to notice a lot of understanding about that. I just wish I could get that sweet furry money. Why aren't they buying?
Plus yeah you won't be as likely to think it's the same artist
>>
>>91665624
Maybe they drew muhammad and got murdered.

oh shit what if they drew muhammad naked

>>91665641
Almost every western porn artists draws or have drawn furporn, it's the big wink they all share, their "secret shame" ;^)

Aren't you supposed to draw their OCs or something?

Yeah, I've been thinking about doing it to practice a more anime-ish style, since my normal style is a bit more western. Pic related is an art style I'd like to try out.

>>91665596
But I don't find furries sexy, anon-kun, I'm not in it for the money, I just wanna draw sexy stuff for fun :(
>>
>>91665641
Does you art suck?
Not everyone can draw fappable shit.
>>
>>91665700
yeah I guess the trick is getting them to ask me to draw their OCs for money
I actually enjoy drawing it, just because I think the anatomy is cool. As long as cartoon noses or paws aren't involved, I'm Jim-dandy
>>91665726
or maybe the issue is no appropriate examples. Ugh I guess I'll have to draw some pro boner.
>>91665720
draw whatever you think is sexy. If you don't like it, the audience sure won't either. That feeling has to come out in the art.
>>
>>91648345
I'm actually running a Kickstarter campaign for a short film my crew and I are trying to get off the ground at the moment...

There's a comic prequel that we're developing if anyone's interested in reading the first couple pages. It's an action movie btw.

At least half of the porn posted on this site looks like it was taken from some 14 year old's Deviant Art page. A lot of the porn posted here looks quite bad, honestly.

I guess if you're a mediocre artist, you might want to appeal to some fetish that has almost zero art, so that the beggars can't really be choosers.
