Even in the age of limited TV animation, Hanna Barbara's style was still similar to things like Rocky and Bullwinkle, Underdog and Mr. Magoo.

I've always had problems with SJ's action. In seasons 1-4, it was fast but poorly framed and stiff, as if they never realized they could work outside of the Hanna Barbera slapstick formula. With season 5, the framing and editing is much better but now the action is slower and floaty.

You know how some of of CN's initial original shows were joint productions of Hanna-Barbera? This was stuff like Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, and Johnny Bravo which had animation that emphasized their comedy through stiff-quick movements that focused less on in-betweens and more on key-frames and poses. Animators were more focused on weighted impact than weighted movement.

This type of animation is more fitting for a comedy cartoon and less fitting for an action cartoon since serious action involves prioritizing variety of movement that still feels impactful.

From a political standpoint my only problem with the show is how sexual it is. It really doesn't need to push the "fusion" between the kids. If the fusion was more in the line of DBZ or even that one season of digimon I wouldn't care. But they blatantly make it sexual and that's too far for me. I would never let my children watch that.
