Were the 80s the best decade for Marvel Comics? Why or why not?
The 70's were better. By the 80's Marvel was turning into a toy commercial, Byrne was gaining too much control, the X-Men were getting too big and Shooter was banning all fun.

90s where best, you had ADAM X THE EXTREME! AZREAL the new EXTREME Batman, The age of apocalypse, the best costumes hands down.everything was just awesome. Even into 2000s it was good but around 2004 to 2006is everything went so horribly wrong

Yes truely extreme batman was marvel at its best.

80's through 94-95 were good. We leave out 1996 for good reason.

This. The latter sixties were better than the eigties as well.
One thing that older marvel has that was lost forever with OG Secret Wars, is in title resolution and integrity. You never have to read any comic but the X-Men to follow the X-Men; Thor's shit stays in Thor, and so on.

It was the best. You had the 60s, 70s, 80s characters. There were maybe 1 or 2 legacy characters in the entire universe. The 90s XXXTREME shit-tier characters didn't exist, and no SJW characters existed. It was a dream.

>no SJW characters existed
They did. There just wasn't an active movement against them.

Late 70s right up to about 94 or 95

80s was the best decade for comics in general, but especially for Marvel. Incredibly quality control.

>posts an anti-sjw comic that sjws would rage over if it were released now
>disproves own point in a single image

yeah but those are GOOD characters.
80's had the build up of silver age background mixed with a wider experimentation and longer story arcs.

80s was the sexual era
90s was the edgy era

>Were the 80s the best decade for Marvel Comics?
Yes.
>Why?
Pic related.

>X-Men
>anti-sjw
Are you high?
>But they killed the one guy
And people were pissed off about it back then too, do you even read the letters they publish on the back of those comics?
Fucking underage fags.
The 60s and 80s both have a shot at being Marvel's best decade.
It blows my mind that anyone likes 70s Marvel that much. Their cape books were garbage with bad art outside of The Invaders, Spider-Man, and the start of the All New All Different X-Men. Shang-Chi and Conan were good but that's about it for 70s Marvel.
Anyway, the 80s had a great balance. Less writer dominated than the 70s, less artist dominated than the 60s. Shooter and the editors he hired were stricter than what had come before but some creators thrived in that environment. It's definitely better than the 90s when editors started thinking of themselves as the main creators (that's what really killed the X-Men).
80s Marvel had Frank Miller, Klaus Janson, JRJR, Bill Sienkiewicz, Alan Davis, Art Adams, Ann Nocenti, Brett Blevins, Tony Salmons, Mike Baron, Roger Stern, Walt Simonson, Mark Gruenwald, Dave Mazzucchelli, Marc Silvestri, Paul Smith, Jon Bogdanove, Rick Leonardi, later jagged and expressive Sal Buscema, my favorite John Buscema art, Barry Windsor-Smith's return to comics, Bob McLeod, Jorge Zaffino
That's a long list but I love every one of those creators.
