Fuck Bendis and Millar for this shit. Before this shit, Tony was an asshole but an asshole who always tried to do the right thing at the end of the day.

Then came Bendis with the Illumanti shit as well as focusing on Tony being a womanizing bastard and after that Millar with Civil War. Seriously, those guys nearly ran Stark into the fucking ground and probably would if they could.

Why couldn't Brubaker Stark's main title after Civil War? His Tony in Captain America was absolutely fantastic. Or hell, Stuart Moore could have written all of Tony's stuff up to Siege and it would have been perfect.

Yep. The biggest problem is that they brought back Steve which fucked up both the Cap and Iron Man stuff.

See, Tony worked when he was atoning for the shit he had pulled in Civil War. He kind of went back to his roots of being an emotional wreck who tried to save everyone apart from himself. Having Steve dead was a great way of Tony having a mistake he could never forgive himself for and a motivation to always make himself better.

Then after Siege, Cap came back, reconciled with Tony, making him lose that interesting trait. Fraction then seemed to lose steam on Tony's stuff. On top of that you had Bendis writing both sets of Avengers (One of the biggest mistakes in Marvel's history) so Fraction had to make sure his Tony adhered to that.

Then came Guardians of the Galaxy which even with Gillen's writing turned Tony's life into an even more convoluted and directionless mess. Then Bendis still kept writing Stark in GoG.

Seriously, all of this can be tied back to Bendis and editorial's shitty decisions.

I totally disagree.
Magneto's worst crime was the Morrison story and that's got that shaky "Xorn" canon, even if it was him Morrison himself wrote it to look like an evil mutant bacteria was mind-controlling him. Beyond that this "terrorist" has only ever murdered in the defense of mutant life and made empty threats.
Meanwhile Emma's worst crime was declaring total war against the Inhumans, and lying to make it happen. Her death-toll is three zeppelins full of enemy combatants, blown away by her home-made sentinels, not really any act of outright cold blooded murder that would be an unforgivable sin in the middle of a war. Especially when you consider that all Earth's mutants are alive because of her actions.

But Hank played mad scientist with his friends' lives and the collateral damage was an entire reality of the multiverse being destroyed. It was yet another irresponsible act that anyone could have told him was too risky and his great intellect wasn't going to make it any less risky, yet he did it anyway.

Stand had aquired Stark Industries legally but then immediately basically began selling weapons to the highest bidder under the table, including criminals and rogue states. For awhile Stark thought Stane was just running his company and honestly doing so better then he had (Stane had spent much time driving Tony to alcholism and the company vastly deteriorated in success as a result), so he let Stane go and focused on rebuilding his life in California mostly.

After he discovered Stane was not only a dickhead corporate executive but a criminal Stane decided the smart thing to do was kill Stark, eventually deciding to do it personally in his Iron Monger armor.
Tony's Silver Centurion armor had been built by this time and it was a LOT more powerful then Stane's Iron Monger armor, in addition to actually being piloted (Stane's armor was basically being piloted remotely by computer while Stane just wore it), and Tony thrashed him after a relatively short fight.

Stand, refusing to surrender himself to the authorities, took off his helmet and turned his repulsor on his own exposed head rather then face charges and go to jail.

The fucked up thing about Police Commissoners is that IN THEORY they report to the Mayor, but since 90% of the time the Mayor knows nothing about police work and his chief advisor on such matters is the Commissoner, in most cities in the US they effective report to no one at all and are generally one of the two most politically powerful men in the entire city; they have full authority over the police and can make ANYTHING they say a matter of standard police procedure as long as it doesn't violate State or Federal law, and since they are one of two people in the entire area who even UNDERSTANDS State and Federal law they have an insane amount of leeway to determine these things. Gordon could fire ANY member of the GCPD without even an explanation with no consequences at all.

In most examples of Gordon's work he looks a lot less like a Commissoner of Police and much more like a Precinct Captain or Unit Captain; Commissoner's job is largely political in nature and offers very little chance to get out of the office.
