It helps when one company just outright steals ideas straight from the competition
>>91563860
Are you implying Deathstroke ripped off Deadpool?
>>91564836
No Deathstroke ripped off Taskmaster though to be fair they were both George Perez character.
>>91564890
This seems to be the actual issue. Certain writers fall in love with a type of character and they just keep on creating that same thing over and over again between companies.
Kirby loved wacky superpowered future space civilizations, so he made Asgardians, Inhumans, and then New Gods
Starlin made Mar-Vel then Thanos, then Mongul, then he tried again around 09-ish with the Demiurge who might as well be Thanos:Take 3

>Taskmaster
First appearance: The Avengers #195 (May 1980)
>Deathstroke the Terminator
First appearance: New Teen Titans #2 (December 1980)
That is a very small window to completely rip-off. As >>91565435 said, it may just be due to George Perez creating both in such a short window of time that he just repeated the same ideas.

>different design
>different background
>different personality
Well, okay then.
>>91565927
>Different design
They have different masks.
>Different background
So do Deathstroke and Deadpool
>Different personality
See above.
>>91566016
Deadpool didn't have a personality until much later.
>>91566016
Why haven't we ever seen both Deadpool and Deathstroke in the same room at the same time?
>>91564836
Fool, everyone knows Wade's love of chimichangas is a straight rip off of deathstrokes love of tamales!
>>91566096
I mean, technically...
>>91563860
and who can forget the new guy
>>91566182
You mean the guy who appears in the Deathstroke comics
You know, Deathstroke
The guy that they ripped off to make Deadpool in Marvel comics
All in all, it seems like a fair trade.Besides, the real Black Panther rip-off is Bronze Tiger
