Cavanaugh was a fucking genius in that role...he really elevated a decent first season into something really damn fun and complex. I just feel like the Zoom and Savitar lacked...something, so far. Zoom's got a lot of problems.

One, he's Wally's villain. He doesn't work as a Barry villain, for obvious reasons. Wally doesn't have a book where Zoom can show up in. So he just gets forgotten because Barry's the main Flash and Wally's specific villains don't matter.

Secondly, he only ever showed up in like 4 stories as Zoom. Two Flash stories, that one big villain society thing with the JSA, and that terrible Bart Allen run story arc with Iris. 4 stories is not a lot of exposure. Only Wallyfags really care about him.

Whereas Wallyfags also care for Thawne. Heck, Wally's best story is with Thawne. Barry's best story is with Thawne. Thawne's clearly the best character for a comic book villain.

So How hard is he gonna fuck Bruce's shit up come wednesday?

His entire character arc is begging Wally to time travel to fix things and Wally refusing, driving Zoom to insanity and hatred because he thinks a better hero like Barry would totally do it.

You can't rip the ten years away that Zolomon existed in and then say Zolomon just shows back up. He's a character that requires a very specific build up to make sense and be good.

Otherwise you get what we got with New 52 Thawne -- a joke of a piece of shit of a character who was tossed in haphazardly purely to use the name for the sake of using it. Ignoring what makes a character tick just to go "HEY HERE'S ZOLOMON" is shitty.

With Thawne you at least have the Speed Force solution. With Zolomon, if you brought him back out of the blue, he'd be in a world where he never got Ashley's father shot and his leg was never crippled by Grodd etc. Zolomon's not petty, just driven mad by circumstance. All he wants is his circumstances fixed.

You'd basically just have to go "Well Manhattan takes the jigsaw puzzle piece that is Zolomon's life and sticks it into the timestream so that all that shit happened to him anyhow" to bring him back in good faith.

I think we should just let Zolomon lie. The character had his arc, it was great. No need to spoil it by retreading for retread's sake.

Zolomon's powers were tied to the Pre-Flashpoint timeline, when Barry fucked up and drastically altered the timeline, Zolomon was stranded outside of time.
After Mr Oz and Manhattan started screwing with reality and merging timelines, the restoration of part of Zolomon's timeline gave him a way back.
Barry's selfish attempt at rewriting history only proves that Wally is the real Flash to Zolomon, and Wally needs to be a better hero than Barry ever was and that's something only pain and suffering can teach.

ugh i hated TV Zoom, they made him a generic speed thief and his design was boring as fuck.
I prefer Zolomon as the Thwane to Wally than just another Zavitar esque badguy and it doesn't help that new 52 Barry has been getting a lot of speedster villains too.

He can stop time. It's why he's immune to speed steal. Speed Steal can make you functionally immobile -- so slow it takes you thousands of years to blink. But that tiny, minuscule amount of speed is infinitely fast in stopped time.

That's why Zoom's always faster than Wally and why he's immune to anything to do with speed.

He got foiled by slowing down to try to "teach" Wally something. The first time he got shoved by a massively boosted Wally into a rupture in time (caused by Zoom's powers ripping time apart at the seams).

The second time was time travel shenanigans. They were time travelling, the thing that kept Zoom in the past was destroyed and he got tossed through time, effectively lost and unable to return of his own volition since he can't time travel with his powers.

But basically, Zolomon asked Wally to time travel to prevent Grodd from crippling him. Wally refused, stating time travel for personal reasons is dangerous and wrong.

Zolomon, wracked with grief and depression, decided to use the Cosmic Treadmill. With no access to the Speed Force, the Treadmill imploded and displaced him in time, giving him the ability to, at will, adjust how fast he moves in time. Which means he can just stop time for himself relative to everyone else.

This is why when Wally inverts his power by shoving him into the time rip he gets frozen -- his personal time bubble slows down to a crawl relative to everyone else, effectively freezing him. The kicker is he was frozen in the worst moment of his life.
