Stockman is probably the most evil villain in the early parts of the original Mirage run. Other antagonists may not be exactly noble, but they have some sympathetic qualities. Stockman wants to destroy New York for kicks.

I read IDW TMNT and I love it. Should I read the original run? I heard it`s continuity is a mess and Vol. 3 is not canon. Is it still ongoing?

Volume 1 have canon and non canon issues by guest artists
Volume 2 is canon but short
Volume 3 published by Image was dark and edgy. It was made to be canon but Laird didn't like it and skipped it when he made Volume 4
Volume 4 is canon but not finished cause Laird sold the franchise to Viacom
You also have a spin off called Tales of TMNT. Volume 1 is canon but very short and Volume 2 have a a lot of various artists, some issues are canon others not.
