Because there's no real coming back from the disappointment that there was. She was billed as being hot shit for a full year by everyone involved with that movie, went down with no fight, got thrown in the trash where she belongs, and somehow lived anyway.

Even if she comes back there's no real way to redeem the character without an uphill battle you can't devote screentime for. You're better off just saying she died on Starkiller base and having a new captain.

So, I have a friend who is 39 and has been a SW fan for many years. He told me sothing that I have a hard time finding any sources on.


He used to subscribe to the Official Star Wars Fan Club Newsletter "Bantha Tracks" and he remembers before the release of RotJ that there was a lot of speculation that in ESB when Luke left Dagobah and Yoda said to Obi-Wan "No, there is another".

Nowadays we know Yoda meant that Leia is his sister but apparently they thought that Han Solo was his long lost brother and he would become a Jedi.

Can anyone confirm this? Did Lucas ever say anything on the matter?

I can kinda see where they'd get the idea from.

Back in the old Marvel comics they did have Han briefly use a lightsaber and say it was kinda cool before tossing it back to the guy he borrowed it from. Leia got a similar scene in Splinter but Han comes off as having more to develop into because Leia was more or less a developed character out the gate while Han always seemed more dynamic because he changes over time.

It's not even realism. If the rebellion kept losing literally hundreds of thousands of credits in highly conspicuous modern fightercraft every engagement there wouldn't be a rebel fighter corps. Phoenix Squadron literally never had a decisive victory in their entire history. They just lose pilots then keep doing like it never happened.

I'm incredibly excited for the film, but the trailer isn't great. It feels like they're tiptoeing around a lot of stuff so couldn't show much in order to avoid spoiling shit. Also, the second trailers for both TFA and RO were both much better than the initial teasers so it will probably follow suit here as well. One thing I'll say is that Looper is a great film so there's a high chance the director has done good work here that we will just have to wait for the final product to see.

Animations are nothing, it has a bland story that develops exactly as you think it would, the characters are inoffensive at best, it suffers from the same kind of useless and meaningless sidequests infestation as DAE, and there's no sense of any real accomplishement in the end, since final boss is anticlimactic af. Between dark and light? Maybe, but not in the way the EU described. With the light, the brighter it gets, the more blind, arrogant and self important you become. With the dark, the darker it gets, the more murky, clouded and destructive you become. Both are extreme, and stuck in dogma and scheming. What Luke and the canon - as well as the Force if you intend to become a spirit, want is something a little simpler and arguably more sensible, in touch with reality and how things really are. So Bendu was right, to a degree until he showed imself as too stuck in his own nature. Kreia was right only in that the Jedi's teachings, well meaning as they may be, are wrong - but she became a Sith to prove it so that's a moot point.

So from what I can make out, this is a kind of retread of the founding of the New Jedi Order at the end of The Unifying Force. Only whatever results will not carry the name Jedi.
