It was surprising she still had the mental health to write an apology to Sandy at that point. I see this "argument" every thread and it never makes sense. I can't really say in this case is Mike or Lucy's fault, but Taeshi's. The violence was always played for comedic purposes until she decided to turn it into abuse to create a new plot point.

And even if that wasn't the case, Mike would be highly responsible for that. He not only allowed her to turn their friendship into a "rough love" relationship but he'd usually respond back in a similar way. That is why at the beginning of the comic their relationship was so healthy: it was highly competitive, ocassionaly violent, but all around honest and happy. Is when Sandy brainwashed him into believing it was violence when things went south.
