do you consider comic books to be literature?

who fucking cares faggot
saging and everyone else should as well
>>91528840
Well obviously that depends on the works in question. Not every traditional novel is literature by any means.
There are certainly some strong contenders. I'd count at least off the top of my head/looking at my shelf:
Hellboy
Howard the Duck
Grendel, particularly the Hunter Rose stuff.
Mage
Cerebus
Watchmen
Sandman
Lucifer
A Contract with God
Flex Mentallo
X-Statix
Enigma
Love & Rockets
All-Star Superman
Daredevil: Born Again
Starman (this one i'm the most eh on counting honestly)
Preacher
Dysart's Unknown Soldier
The definition of literature is very vague and not universally agreed upon, if pressed i feel i could justify at least these works with my understanding of their content and craft.
Based Kupperman.

>literature, written works, writing published on a particular subject, printed material used to advertise products
yes, comic books are literature

>More restrictively, literature is writing that is considered to be an art form, or any single writing deemed to have artistic or intellectual value, often due to deploying language in ways that differ from ordinary usage.

Ware, Moore and a bunch of pretentious Fantagraphics darlings

No, its a completely different medium. It's like arguing film is radio.

>do you consider this art to be that art?
You're a bad fan of comics.
>>91528840
It depends on how you define literature.
Only DC one shots/elseworlds.

Literature is not a medium, dumbass.
>>91528840
Of course not, it's a visual medium. 'sides, everyone wants to turn their comcis into movies and every fan wants to turn their favorite comics into movies.
Also, overall quality is poor, there are exceptions of course but most comics are bad.
