Why? Jim is the typical MC. A white dude who is supposed to be unpopular despite, but not too nerdy, which just comes off as bland. He's as much of a cliche as Claire and Toby.

The show doesn't treat Jim as unpopular, or Steve as popular.

Toby is obnoxious and Claire has zero characterization.
