Their pitch was largely unprofessional from what I heard. It was probably more their fault it didn't get picked up then adult swim. Their are plenty of pitches that don't get picked up. Their are way too many people trying to pitch shows, and option or sell scripts. You'd be suprised how many scripts are bought and never used in hollywood.

Yeah. Chris and Zach expanded on that in the podcast. They went in, full of themselves, and made their presentations which was a complete mess. They fumbled, looked unprofessional (they actually dressed like their characters purely by accident) and basically didn't convinced the producers. On top of not wanting to back down on certain demands such as changing the show's name.

Chris actively regrets the last part mentioning something that it was childish of them. Honestly, I loved how honest and self-deprecating they were when they talked about their pitch :

Im wondering why they put so much stock into Hellbenders anyway. It's really not much of a concept. If you had to describe the characters and the world they're in, you couldn't fucking do it because every episode is just nonsense and screaming. It seems really creatively bankrupt from both of them to just make a series where they're both the main characters.
