New season starts May 12th.
Are you ready? What do you expect?

Holy shit, this is actually still running? I forgot this was even a thing.
>>91517563
Season 5 heading into the final stretch.
>>91517563
It has 78 episodes total, like most Netflix shows.
You mean All Hail Julien.
I don't really know what to expect.
We've been led to believe a highly serialized story to rival the showrunner's past work on Mystery Inc, but I have no idea how to parse that relative to King Julien, besides the fact that it'll take the entire season to resolve the season 4 cliffhanger.

>season 5
What the fuck
>>91519093
They split production seasons in half, so if this was a normal TV series, it'd be the third season.
>>91519093
Their deal with Netflix gives them some extra security.
AHKJ is guaranteed 78 episodes from day one.
The downside(?) is that they aren't getting any more.
The Showrunner is working with that and is writing seasons 5 and 6 to be the definitive ending.
>>91519180
Though even that is kind of vague.
Does he mean it's going to just run right up to the start of Madagascar 1?And then does that mean working in an explanation for Clover to not be in the movies?
>>91519180
So are all the Dreamworks Netflix shows guaranteed for 78 episodes? I know Julien, Puss, Peabody, Dragons, and Voltron are, but Turbo ended after 52. Are Croods, Home, and Trollhunters all getting 78?
>>91519368
That's something I don't really know.
They may have just decided in advance 52 or 78 depending on the franchise.
Making the whole thing wacky is they finished their order for VeggieTales in the House but then started another spin-off/continuation show.
I don't understand anything. This thing has a story?
>>91519523
Kinda. It's the type of story where the ongoing plot is in a quarter of the episodes and the rest are standalone. It got increasingly serialized last season though and this season it's now switching to completely serialized.
>>91519523
Sort of?
Netflix been bugging the showrunner to do bingeworthy serialized stuff for a while now (because he also did Mystery Inc which performs well on Netflix), so the show just sort of slowly builds up a story.
Season 5 is supposedly where the show is going to hit full story mode.
Essentially, the entire setup for Season 5 happens in the last 3 episodes of Season 4.
Julien meets a mysterious handsome stranger who seems to have suspicious motives.
>>91519705
Of course he's secretly the ruler of a tribe of warrior lemurs systematically conquering all of Madagascar which is apparently tied to an ancient prophecy foretold by living bells mentioned a few seasons back in passing.
>>91519996
And so the season ends withKoto more or less successfully taking over all of Madagscar, Julien only barely managing to escape with Pancho, the shady lemur who turned out to be an elite sleeper agent programmed to assassinate him but who resisted his programming in the submarine Julien's uncle had planned to use to blow up the kingdom, his bodyguard having gone MIA with her ex-boyfriend who happens to be the rightful ruler of the warrior lemurs and Koto's brother.
That's why OP's image is of Julien's empty throne and why "King" is faded out of the show's name.
And to think, back in season 2 the only drama was Julien seemingly dying in an explosion.
>>91519368
I know for a fact that Trollhunters only has 52. Del Toro talked about it. They're releasing the second half as seasons two and three.
>>91519575
Not to mention Beware the Batman.
I'm still waiting for the obligatory Miskatonic University/Hospital/whatever reference to show up on AHKJ.

Arch-enemies working together.
Never forget he just leaves them all without a second thought.
