Jack Cole's Plastic Man are really damn good comics, and I'd dare say are almost revolutionary for what they did with panel layout. Those stories and Captain Marvel are severely underrated, and it's a shame that people overlook them because of age. They deserve to be reprinted in omnibii and more formats than just the archives.

In the context of the Golden Age. I feel that Cap and Plas are the best golden age strips in DC's library, but they never see reprinting as much as the other characters do. The two strips still hold up today, better than a lot younger comics.

Seriously though, Mrs Incredible, Plastic Man and Elongated Man all deserve to sit above Mr Fantastic. Thin Man does too, in my opinion. Richards is shit.

You know, a while ago I'd gotten it into my head to try drawing an adventure/superhero comic strip with a stretchy hero.
This was largely because I am shitty at drawing, though, and intended to use that to excuse, at least, poorly drawing my main character. The rest of the world... I'd just hoped I could do something passably like you'd see in old Popeye cartoons.

Who knows, if I hadn't abandoned the idea and had kept with it, maybe I'd actually be a half-decent artist by now.

Either way, I've only seen the original Jack Cole comics in a book at my school library that discussed comic strips and the evolution of the comic book.
Those strips made me a fan of Plastic Man. Though I did like the idea pitched in the 80s that those strips were just how PLAS saw the world, with it being crazy and himself as a stoic hero...
