I read a bunch of spirit comics when i was younger. I have no idea what this movie was supposed to be about but none of it made any fucking sense to me. In the comics i read he wasnt invincible or whatever he was just a normal dude that woke up in his coffin and dug hid way out. He was just like a detective. I have no idea who the fuck the antagonist of this movie was. I just remember being mad as fuck

I remember it being terrible. So bad, that I regret not drinking bleach and killing myself for watching it.

The only other movies that made me seriously contemplate suicide were Transformers 4, Bad Milo, and The Spirit.

Not even Cannibal Ferrox or Galaxy of Terror were that bad.
>>
I unironically love this movie. I mean, it's a terrible, terrible Spirit adaptation. But it's definitely got that kitschy feel to it.

History of Violence was better as a movie imo. Isn't there like three books about the characters from Road to Perdition?
>>
>>91501210

Chris Evans has been in how many comic franchises/films? 5? Scott Pilgrim, FF, Snowpiercer, Losers, and Avengers is all I can think of. Anyone else been in that many?
>>
>>91502569
The guy who wrote it has written a shit ton of other books (like the Quarry series, which just had a good TV adaptation). Huh, I didn't realize that it was published from a DC imprint (Paradox Press).

Road to Perdition is confusing, because it was a comic, that then had a movie adaptation, which then had a prose novel based off the movie, then two other prose novels to follow it.

He gets roughed up in most iterations, but the way he's written depends on the time you're looking at.
The original newspaper inserts in the 40's were usually pretty serious. Most of the time, the stories were less about him, and more about the criminals he takes down, so there's a lot of story variety. What I like about them is how the characters can generate a lot of sympathy, even if they're supposed to be the 'bad guys'. Their stories get fleshed out adequately. Then, the Spirit's presence as a surprisingly vulnerable enforcer is like a catalyst that causes the inevitable conclusion of said story. It's gritty, it's very detailed, and I highly recommend reading the inserts if you can get your hands on them.
After that, they took too much creative liberty with him and turned him into laughing stock. The visuals were more cartoonish, the stories felt way less emotionally involved, and the Spirit himself acted like a straight-up autist. It was like something out of fucking MAD Magazine.
The movie felt like it was trying too hard to combine the caricature story style of the later versions with the gloomy atmosphere of the originals. They should have just gone with one style or the other. (Preferably the earlier stuff, because I think the stories were much more meaningful, but now I'm just thinking out loud.)

It is said that the popularity boost from this movie lead DC to want to have more Swamp Thing.

So it is thanks to this movie that we got Alan Moore's definitive run and made Swamp Thing the big name he is.

It's a little too camp, but I've always been fond of it. It's stylish as fuck. It has Tim Curry, John Lone, Gandalf, Peter Boyle, Alec Baldwin before he became a parody of himself, and Penelope Ann Miller before Pacino had her blacklisted. Also, I think it rather nicely reconciles the pulp and radio versions of the character.

As I said, the movie's a bit camp. That's not really the problem though. The problem is that it swings back and forth from dead serious to camp. It can't quite make up its mind whether it's a serious attempt at a Shadow movie or a 90's action comedy. I still love it. It's a decent popcorn flick and certainly a better treatment than poor Green Hornet got.

Hasselhoff Fury is pretty decent. Especially for a pilot disguised as a TV movie.

The sequel was partly filmed in my hometown. It's a really small place so people were super stocked to know Bruce Willis was around.
Nobody had heard of Red and nobody cared about the sequel but we all wanted to see it to notice if we would recognize anything distinct about our town. As far as I know, everyone collectively forgot about the movie as soon as the production wrapped up in our area.

Between the two of these which is worse? Which is better?
>>

Reb Brown one is even more boring, somehow. Matt Salinger is a worse actor, but the TV pilots are so brain-meltingly dull they aren't even worth watching for a giggle or a laff.

Though the 2nd episode has maybe the single most retarded villain plot off all time(said villain played by Christopher Lee), so it's got that going for it.

I remember watching this movie. I remember thinking it was super weird that they removed all references to Superman. I also remember his wheelchair-bound sidekick.

Man-Thing at least got a decent tie-in comic with rad art by Kyle Hotz.

Not a thing wrong with The Phantom. I still enjoy that movie.

TF4 was better than the previous two though, even if it wasn't great.

I I remember it. I remember it being god fucking awful. Oddly enough, this is the adaptation I feel most exemplifies the adaptation process WB has gone through creating the DCEU.

What the fuck? Dude is way more talented than that.

How is he not doing more voice work, at least? He was incredible as Ansem in KH1. If he can't be Lex Luthor in live-action, DC should really get him to voice Lex in a cartoon or one of their movies.

Being a VA isn't that bad, and certainly less "WTF inducing" than to see an actor from Titanic advertising KFC.

I knew there was some reason these ads seemed so much more charismatic and crispy, yet tender.

Now if I can only prove that captcha is requested selection of gas stations to help calibrate drone and orbital satellite laser AI visual identification and targeting systems.

I unapologetically love this movie. No shame. I smile like an idiot every time I watch it. It does so many things wrong yet is an entirely unique adventure that subverts expectations in the worst way possible. I saw it in theaters when I was in highschool and after the first 15 minutes, I realized what i was going to be in for and then enjoyed the rest of the movie.

This movie is probably one of the biggest peices of purposeful shit I've ever seen. You don't make a movie this bad on accident. You aspire to ruin something like this.
