Tynion's Ra's sucks.

The issue wasn't outright garbage I guess...but it's difficult to understand why anyone would love it. It just feels so uninspired, just like the entirety of Tynion's work. Low effort. Safe. Boring. It's like...he's just writing arcs as vehicles of fanservice for that arc's character. First Tim, then Kate, then Stephanie, now Cass. I mean that's fine, but he seems to have no desire (or ability) to tell a compelling story with that. I guess Clayface is interesting, but we know little to nothing about his transition to a hero still...it came out of nowhere and he's just kinda there. Not to mention his Bruce is shit.

This book just plain sucks.

It's just an edgier, more hamfisted retread of story beats that were already handled by far better writers. All it amounts to is an Elseworlds story. Like all of Nu52. It's all an Elseworlds work.

Oh well. Next issue's the one they hyped up as the biggest fight scene ever in the solicitations. I assume it's going to be 20 pages of NuCass just fighting ninjas. I might be hyped for something like that, if I hadn't already seen Tynion and his pals try to give her a cool fight scene like four times now, completely failing every single time.
