Depends on what we're talking about. For cartoons of the current year, it'd probably be Justin Roiland and Genndy Tartakovsky. If the new Zim movie isn't half bad, maybe King Spiccalo will jump back on that bandwagon.

i'd say ennis knew how to tread the line between comical and disturbing, before he started believing that wermacht were the ubermench that only lost the war because stalin threw endless meat puppets at them.
also hugo pratt knows how to use his words. jodorowsky is obviously the only good writer among the lot, being the only great artist working in comics.
