There isn't a concrete, singular "ghost jack". It's just a hallucination based on whatever emotion is eating away at him at a given moment.
Green one is clearly depressed, Blue is a whole spectrum of self-loathing. Purple is smug about something, I don't remember that conversation really well.

Whether or not there is a real spiritual force at play or it's simply that Jack is a broken man, those other 'Jack(s)' still have a real connection to his broken mind after 50 years of being a failure.

Like, you could read some subtext from an old episode where Jack fought off being possessed by Aku; he had a closer connection to his victories and the people he helped and that gave him resolve. Who knows how isolated and dogged he's been in those 50 years.

I mean, he's clearly still the same character for the most part, but he probably struggles to keep himself together.

Cynic Jack is best Jack.

It's meant to represent Jacks lack of hope and trying to stray him further away from his path, but it changes depending on how bad the situation is.

The first time we see him Jack is guilt ridden and between a rock and a hard place so it appears tired and absolutely depressed, and recommends Jack to just kill himself. Second time Jack is near death and got his ass handed to him so he appears crazed and paranoid. Third time Jack is at his most himself so he looks just like Jack and isn't nearly as extreme as the other two hallucinations, but still wants to take the easy way out of things and goes "Meh, just ditch her".

I like it, it changes and gives appropriate negative thoughts based around what Jack's doing rather then it always just telling Jack to kill himself, which would get tiring and be less impactful if it constantly did.

I mean, obviously he's not really 'pathetic', and he's going to be tearing the rebels apart in the next episode, but consider this: Aku's so stressed out over Jack, he's not even enjoying being an evil dictator anymore. Man, those series are probably the best kino I've seen in TV for years.

That amazing music during sisters chasing Jack in the abandoned pyramid. I could feel the fear and paranoia with Jack hiding in the tomb.

Those attempts of 70+ years old samurai to get emotionally close to an attractive female human being, while being stuck with her in a belly of a gigantic epic monster (also another epic moment, when it turns out that the whole fighting ground was actually a monster)

That breakdown both mentally and physically after Jack killed the sister and was hiding with the "white wolf" (a metaphor for his relentless spirit) and backing to his past to become stronger and overcome odds.

Crows randomly crowing while actually yelling "murderer".

Going loco and talking to himself in the middle of fights.

Those amazing sword-less fights and Jack's improvisation with a variety of weapons.

It was a find episode that was true to the original series, but it was neither thrilling nor entertaining the same way the past episodes have been. Nothing that screamed "thank god they brought back Samurai Jack for this." Which, unfortunately, is how you have to measure every episode, since this isn't an ongoing continuation, it's a conclusion.

We are going to watch the Scottsman die this weekend. We are going to do it together.

Personally I'd say it's the best with only episode 2 competing. This latest episode's got a perfect blend of humor and action and returns to the "strange journey" that the original series was known for, and for the first time we can see the old Jack peeking through, making an effort to be friendly and positive despite being stuck in the belly of a giant beast with an assassin. The comment on the back fur was where I finally felt the old Jack was back.

Not that all the episodes haven't been great, of course. This one just felt like a return to form, and a breath of fresh air after all the angst and tension.

Ghost jack is the only one with a non-standard appearance meaning it has an actual purpose to the narrative(current theory is that the hallucination is more destabilized the worse jacks mental condition is in) compared to SU which is just "our artists cannot be bothered to draw uniformly so we just let them do whatever the fuck"

Ashi will play a huge part in Jack's struggle with his own emotions, I believe.
For example, he's always saved people and then left them, easy prey for Aku if he ever decides to strike again. Aside from the baby, this will be the first time Jack has to take care and heal someone for a long period of time, someone he feels responsible for creating.
