We have to consider the particular situation in which the fight will take place and who's involved.

Let's just go out on a limb and say that the other gems/ pilots won't get in the way and it's just one on one. And both characters are at a point in their series where they are competent in their abilities…as hard as that would be to believe.

Without his mech Shinji would probably not stand much of a chance, even with his mech he'd still have a bit of a problem because not only does Steven not require an entire team to monitor a mech, but Steven is pretty OP when it comes to actual range of abilities. Not to mention Steven's healing powers, durability, etc etc. But if he gets Steven with his mech before he can react and doesn't bitch out for an initial blow/hit to the the gem, he'd probably win.


Honestly SU would be way more interesting if there were more gem shattering 360 no scope insta-kills….but that's just my inner edge lord talking.

That's the problem with most "Steven Universe vs. whatever" questions. Steven's power set and personality lend themselves towards long endurance fights while he psychologically converts his opponent to obey him.

Base human Shinji is nothing against Steven. Shinji in Eva could most likely easily throw Steven in his bubble into space, at which point Steven is screwed.

Yeah. That's always bothered me about the show. Because nobody ever has enough stealth and sense not be put into a position where they'd have a 'feels talk' with the mcs everything is in the CG and Steven's favor. If an organization with some semblance of sense and competence were actually thrown into the mix then even the damn Gem Rebellion probably would have been over before it began.
