Is Rick basically One Punch Man but with Intelligence?
>>
He was outsmarted by a cocky Morty, so no.
>>
>>91448675
No, because he's come across a couple actual challenges
>>
What? No. No.

Definitely not.
>>
No. He canonically just makes everything up as he goes along and just says "all according to plan" if things happen to work out. He might be "da smartest" but he's hardly in control of any situation that he's in.

The strongest man in the world can be beaten up by a handful of punks who get lucky and so can the smartest man be outsmarted. Saitama cannot, because he has what is essentially a mix of toon force and plot armor behind him.
>>
>>91448675
No, he's not One-Meme Man.
>>
Someone link me to the ratings numbers for RnM's season 3 premiere; it's for an essay.
>>
>>91448766
He set up the downfall of the intergalactic government and the interdimentional council of himself and removed his son in law from his family socially all at once.
>>
Yes in that he overcomes all his challenges by being the 'smartest man in the universe' which in the show translates to 'he can do anything and everything the writers need him to do'.
>>
>>91448675
I think this is just going to end in an apples-oranges debate. If your benchmark is just "Rick has challenges he must overcome, Saitama does not", then no... OPM is "superior", but I personally would argue that realistically, they are very similar. Both struggle more with boredom than anything else, both are (almost) always unrivaled, and from a writing perspective, both are ironically more of vector characters in many episodes of their respective shows.
>>
>>91448837
How do you know he planned Jerry leaving?
>>
>>91448833
Do your own damn homework

He gave himself up because he didn't want to be responsible for making everyone miserable. Then he took advantage of a stupid gullible bug to escape and become a spy, then he took advantage of circumstance to ambush the Ricks, then he took advantage of the rest of the Rick's complacency to create chaos, then he took advantage of the centralized network of the bugs to Independence Day them. And then he told Morty that he planned everything from the beginning because powertrips get his dick hard. It's the same sort of cascade of plot contrivances that you'll find in any lazily-written high-stakes drama. And if there was any coherent point to it all it wasn't "Rick's so damn smart, look at him go" it's that "bureaucracies are inflexible and easy to exploit."

Saitama is good at heart and his goodness goes (mostly) unnoticed but he keeps being selfless anyway.

I don't think Rick has any redeeming qualities except the willingness to protect his family (as if there were somehow rare, noble, or selfless)?
>>
>>91448675
Saitama is constantly looking for an actual challenge. He's bored with being invincible, and looking for some actual threat to make him feel something again.

Rick is just very good at running away from mistakes. He almost never gets a full-on "good ending", he just doesn't face consequences for his failures. He's apathetic, but he's not bored.
>>
Rick is Cthulhu
>>
>>91448675
>Is basically a joke character based off the idea of "what if a human became god-level by just working hard"
>Has gotten so adept that they're bored by everyone around them
>Idiots dissect his source material in order to appear smart
>Other idiots say "this is stupid and tryhard and makes no sense" in order to appear contrarian
>Majority of criticism comes in the form of "normies/Reddit/memes" being repeated ad-nauseum
Huh, you know what yeah.
Yeah he is.
>>
>>91449855
Rick doesn't even care about his family. He left his real family (sans Morty) to die in a apocalyptic world. Hell, he's probably gone through several families already.
>>
>>91450287
That evil Morty is probably his original Morty from which he had to flee.
>>
The central joke of One Punch man is that every protaganist is One Punch man. For whatever their skillsets are conventional protaganists are all One Punch men because their personal skillset is written to solve whatver problem they run into. So yes he is but so is Batman, Macguiver, Etc.
>>
>>91450318
You are fucking retarded
>>
>>91448778
what makes one punch man a meme?
is it because you don't like it?
>>
>>91449897
the hulk is about to fucking die.
>>
>>91450287
that wasn't his original family. this rick is from a different timeline to 'our' morty
>>
>>91450340
That is literally the joke of the series.
One Punch Man is Superman, Goku, fucking whoever, taken to a comedic extreme.
Other characters get jobbed waiting for him to show up, even if they don't know that's what they're waiting for.
One Punch Man is a fucking parody series.
Why is that a problem?
>>
What if Rick's Memory in the first episode of season 3 was real, but we were seeing it from the perspective of the wrong Rick? What if the real Rick was the one that killed the grieving Rick's family.
>>
>>91448992
Did he really take advantage of situations or did it all just go according to keikaku? I mean, why did he bring up that he left improvisation behind with spy bug if he was just making the shit up as he went along?
>>
Any good drumpf jokes in S3?

>The strongest man in the world can be beaten up by a handful of punks who get lucky and so can the smartest man be outsmarted

That's only true in real life, not most comics or cartoons that are about really strong guys
