I think the important thing that no one brought up yet is this blatant fishwashing of the fucking characters

Given that Barnacle Boy and Mermaid Man were real people and not just fictional characters, he certainly had something to stand on here, especially since (IIRC) the men hadn't been contacted about the use of their likenesses.
