Really makes you think about the type of pressure a legacy hero must have. I'd like to see somebody take a character like Miles and focus on the crippling expectations the rest of the world has of him. If anything, it gives more incentive for him to hide his racial identity as its really more of a crutch holding him back. His culture expects him to always be a good role model and act on behalf of his entire race. He can't ever fail because of what it would mean for future generations. And even on his best day he will always be regarded as a Black hero rather than Miles Morales. I'd imagine that the character would end up really messed up in the head as there's a lot of conflict to his character that comes from the world he lives in

The solution to fixing Miles, outside of getting someone other than Bendis to write for him, is simply to ditch the spider theme altogether. He cant make his own web shooters or fluid, hes tired of being compared to Peter, and hes fucking redundant in his own universe. Ditch the Spider mantle, web shooters, and give him another gimmick. Hell, might as well be a stinging insect of some sort
