What are some monochromatic comics with good use of color? I'm looking for references to improve my own comic, my inking isn't the best and I suck at using color to make it more readable. Haven't had much luck on google, so I appreciate if you guys would have some to recommend

Nice, maybe I should try using some texture, I've been going for this flat Barberella coloring for some reason

Are you interested specifically om those black & white & some other color comics or any B&W comics are good with you?
>>
Sin City seems like an obvious suggestion.

Is this... Ggggunshow?
Black & white & some other color, I want to see how the artists use simple coloring to make the drawings pop.

Sin City has some badass art, my first try was to use B&W only, and one key element a page would be colored, it didn't work too well for me though.

It's a manga but i always did like the way Adachi uses colour.

Is gray a color to you? Because there are lots of different techniques to do black, gray and white comics

Thanks a lot. This also reminds me Dragonball was republished with coloring like this
>>91408232
I think it could be. With one color, it's more about the rendering than the color itself right? Please post everything you can think of, Anon

I have to go soon so I'll dump this info now
on The Comic Book Guide for the Artist-Writer-Letterer (1973) from Charlton comics they describe four way to do comics in black, (gray) and white.
Pic related

The benday/zip a tone today is mostly known as screen tones and associated with manga but they were used by western artists from time ago, the western style limits itself to 1 or two tones unlike the japanese who use over six.
Crosshatching is simple as it sounds, on the world of comics the masters of crosshatching are Basil Wolverton and Robert Crumb, if you want to master pen and ink study their works.
Wash is a technique of painting with black watercolors or mixing india ink with distilled water, its not different from painting with a full palette of watercolors so it is just as time consuming and hard to fix mistakes, listen to me I'm making a comic in ink wash right now and it has been a pain.
Craftint is similar to screen tones but you apply with a brush using a chemical solution, it gives an amazing effect but it is no longer being made.

I hope what i wrote above this helped you, from what i understand the color applied to those comics you've posted is an studio process and not a thing the artist does.

If you have any other questions shoot fast before i leave.
