Why does Scott run away from his destiny? I only remember Kingdom Come where he comes back to Apokolips to essentially take up Himon's old struggle of trying to educate the underclasses.
In general his main story is just running away from Apokolips and trying to make a life with Barda, and at most having a tangential relationship with Grant Morrison's Shilo Norman being an 'avatar of freedom'.

It seems to be far more consistent that Orion has to clean up his father(s)'s messes, but Scott never has to.

But then again, maybe that's the joke. One of the many ways that he gets off 'scot-free'.
