I still don't get it, are those onion rings in a taco? What the fuck? Is this some kind of weird Britbong fast food?
For reference, this is the I think third arc of Messner-Loebs' run, and after the last issue Diana is presumed dead. The rest will be pretty self-explanatory.
>>91379049
I always see it as spaghetti.
Also it seems more like shitty American "tacos" served at like Taco Cabana.
The cover does really grab your attention, though, and not just because of Brian Bolland.
I love the hovering/sitting.
Jesus christ, my second PC that I use to read while posting is going fucking apeshit.
Bump to read later.
>>91378988
>>91379209
The image ticks me off every time, but I must admit that it's well-drawn.
>>91379303
Personally I love this arc and think the cover is hilarious. It was pretty divisive though and is more used today for HEY LOIS, REMEMBEH THE TOIME WONDAH WOMAN WORKED AT TACO WHIZ on cracked.com.
OK, PC is under control now.
>>91379425
I really relate to that last panel.
Just to repeat what I said before the last thread died:
>Just caught up with Year One, I gotta say I'm incredibly impressed. I think it'll end up being my favorite Wonder Woman origin so far (I love Perez's backstory for the Amazons but Rucka took that as a foundation, took all of the good stuff about Perez's origin and made it better).
>I wish it had come out a few years ago so the movie could have just been based on it. I haven't felt this happy reading a new comic in a long time. Whole thing just put a smile on my face.
>Also it definitely paid off to wait instead of reading it monthly. Reading it in one go is a trip.
>Definitely adding it to my storytime list.
>Oh, and THE best version of Steve, excluding the Golden Age version.
tl;dr I'm pretty up on WW Year One, and after the first Cheetah arc the present day issues are great as well.
Right out the gate we're getting a cadre of villains including Veronica Cale, rebooted Dr. Poison and Dr. Cyber, Deimos, Ares, and a hint atCirce
>>91378988
Who drinks coffee with tacos?
Why is there spaghetti in that taco?
But that's a discussion for Wednesdays.
I like how this is doing the opposite of making me hungry.
>>91378988
>Alright sir, heres your coffee, beans, nachos, and taco full of spaghetti, with a side order of more spaghetti. Enjoy.
>>91379674
LMAO.
>Hi, can I get just a large spaghetti meal with nothing on it?
>>91379151
Waifu artemis
My first real job was at a McDonald's. I was pretty bad at it because I really didn't know how to apply myself. BUT! It pit me against the worst people Texas has to offer all day every day, and taught me the most important skill you can have: how to tolerate shitty people.
>>91379746
Artemis will be tomorrow, actually.
>>91379803
Thank god i never got to work in a fast food restaurant.
>>91379833
Good
>>91379049
I think they're just chopped onions colored poorly. What bothers me is, who drinks coffee while eating tacos?
>>91379917
Maybe it's a Texas thing but I've seen many, many co-workers walk in in the morning with Taco Bueno and Starbucks in hand.
>robots
What is this, a German video game?
Is this Tommy from Hitman?
Someone will get some use out of this.
>>91379425
Why do people complain about this arc? This is real shit, presented in a funny and relatable way. Why is that only ok when Spider-Man does it?
>>91380134
Probably a NOT MUH thing. Wonder Woman hasn't done it before, therefore she should never do it.
I'm not a fan of the "fish out of water" thing being applied to Diana outside of her origin stories, but I think the Taco Whiz thing works really well. Especially JLAers don't usually have to deal with things like jobs and apartments.
>Dickie Loder
This should get posted more than the All-Star Superman thing
I really love that shirt and dress
>>91378988
I'll never really get tired of this cover.
>>91380134
>>91380202
What's even sillier is that the same idiots who bitch about her being "unrelatable" and "more alien than Superman" also seem to hate this run. It's an entire arc about Diana working at a fucking taco joint. Doesn't really get more down to earth than that.
>>91380451
It's kind of like Grounded, but not awful.
And here we have the cast of a rejected 90's TV pilot.
I believe this is what's referred to as a "shit-eating grin"
Holy shit, 100 Mhz?! That's almost more powerful than my coffee maker!
Not sure why he needs an advanced processing unit just to electro shock his mom.
>>91380477
Pretty much. Though to be fair, I suppose, I would like to see Diana have more runs that are like this one. Having her deal with more of a mix of small and large scale stuff would be a good way to distinguish her from the other Trinity members.
Plus, I always saw it as a subtle theme, that Diana is a character who exists in two worlds, the mythical and the modern. So it'd be nice to see that played up.
Oh shit, he's overclocking up to 120 Mhz!
The 90's had lots of disposable villains like these. Flash, Batman, Superman, everyone had them, and basically none of them ever came back.
>central processor of death

>>91380809
Good grief, no wonder Wonder Woman's got such a long list of Villains of the Month. They can't name themselves or each other worth a damn. These are "Living Laser"-tier monikers, memorable only because they're so milquetoast.
>>91380984
Don't forget Angle Man!
>>91380991
>Feeding people is a just and dignified occupation.
Diana, pls.
Taco Whiz actually has the same colors as Texas fast food staple, Whataburger.Which I do not like
>>91381101

>>91379390
Most runs that aren't Perez or Marston tend to get shat on by everyone. Secret Agent Wondie gets written off because "muh powers and being trained by a male".
So how's everyone's day going?
>>91378988
bump for waifu
>>91381254
It's a shame because if Wondie fans didn't squabble so much over which runs are good maybe non-fans would be more aware of them.
>>91381350
This page is for you, anon
This is actually the second time in this very run that Diana went underwater and fought a tentacle monster.
We Splatoon now
>>91381497
Diana is cute! CUTE!
There's a /pol/ reaction image on this page.

>>91381256
Pretty good. I'm behind in schoolwork, but I clobbered people online in fighting games.
>>91381519
Shoot, the whole page could be a reaction image if you make the book and the junkie exploitable.
>>91381256
Alright. Finally finished up Life is Strange. Pretty good. Shame about that crap ending though.
>>91381798
What games, anon?
>>91381812
Definitely check out some other adventure games. Walking Dead gets a lot of hate but I think it does what Life is Strange tries to do a lot better.
She gets another cute outfit in every issue!
>IT'S TACORIFFIC!
>>91381256
I am shamefully addicted to Fire Emblem Heroes. Also, I just found out I was mostly using bottom-tier characters, which is why I was doing so shit, so basically FML.
>>91381983
Did everyone just play video games all day or something? Guess it is Saturday.
Is the gameplay in FE Heroes just like the regular games? What's the gimmick?
>>91381894
KOF 14 and Virtua Fighter 5 FS
>>91381937
Huh, they are kinda cute. Didn't think about that.
>>91382052
I've been trying to catch up on the Gen 13 storytimes. It may be the most 90's comic I've ever read.
>>91382052
>>Did everyone just play video games all day or something?
Probably. I started up Vagrant Story todaybut crapped out at the dragon because I can't do any fucking damage in the damn gamethen switched over to starting up SaGa Frontier instead.
>>91381894
I just hope those other adventure games lack such a disappointing final choice.
It just feels so forced, to the point of giving me Mass Effect 3 flashbacks. But then, I have zero patience for any "because destiny says so" crap.
At least I finally got to see Max and Chloe kiss.
>>91382123
Isn't it great?
>>91382127
I've been on a JRPG kick, as well. I'd like to play Vagrant Storybut I feel like I should play FF Tactics first
>>91382159
Pretty much any game that boils down to one final choice like that is bad. TWD season 1 doesn't have that IIRC.
I remember reading this Fate run!
Why doesn't she simply cut the statue in half and give each girl half?
>>91382246
Can't go wrong with FFT but you should give Tactics Ogre a spin as well. I still need to finish up my run in that.
yikes
>>91382421
Should I do Ogre first? I have both games on my Vita.
>>91382052
>Is the gameplay in FE Heroes just like the regular games? What's the gimmick?
It's like the regular games but on crack since the gameplay is way quicker (maps are smaller and there's less units) and there's no permadeath since getting heroes is the gimmick behind the microtransactions (I haven't spent a single penny on the gamebecause it won't let me though). Otherwise it's a fairly fun little game and a nice introduction to the mechanics of the other games without having any of that cancerous casual mode. My only problem is that you can't level up as a user so if you run out of stamina you can't play for even 4 hours at times.
Either someone made a coloring error or Inza carved her response to Diana's question into the stone.
>>91382486
Not sure I'm into it being so simple. But it's free so what the hell, I'll try it out.
I forgot Circe was in this. Convenient considering we stopped Perez right before another big Circe arc.
Spooky skelington tits
:'(
>>91382680
Mummy tits are totally different man.
Here's a pretty amazing diatribe from Brian Augustyn about all the bitching about this run!
>>91382773
>Are the X-Men worse characters or, for that matter, a worse book because Claremont or Lee or Byrne isn't doing the book?
That's kind of a bad example.
>>91382474
I'd say go for it, yea. Ogre laid the groundwork for FFT, but it still has a lot going for itself. Maps are bigger than in FFT so it lets you have more units in battle. FFT tends to limit you to like 4-5 units, while Ogre can let you have 8-10 or more.
>>91382773
Also ironic that to prove DC still pushes Wondie he cites a show that didn't even get its pilot filmed. D'oh!
>>91382844
I'll say.
>>91381256
Marvel's Very Bad No Good Week seems to continue with every day, which is kind of hilarious. I was out of town for most of the day, and seem to have missed the thread spamming about it

>you will never have tacos with the Justice League

OK, I'm confused. Why does it matter if she'd be over 100? Did they think this actress died the same way Fairbanks did, too? It's not like every swashbuckler died of heart attacks as a general rule. And there are weirder things than spry centenarian.
Fairbanks was pretty cool, BTW - first Zorro, and best Son of Zorro.
>>91383963
I loved Wally someday i may storytime the whole run.
>>91384022
I guess it's not unheard of. But though we're not talking about colonial times or anything, the average lifespan was pretty significantly shorter pre-1900 afaik.
>>91382773
I'm actually way more curios about the origin of that street sign capable of withstanding the pull of a black hole, than of origin of the black hole gun.
>>91384038
>this coloring
Jesus wept.
>>91384185
Also how only a god blessed super warrior could hold onto the rope in a black hole, but two normal guys managed to hold onto Diana just fine.
>>91384185
Meant to quote:
>>91383438
>>91383963
>>91383980
>clipped with MULTIPLE SHOTS
This scene could rival Flash tripping into Deathstroke's sword.
>>91384085
>But though we're not talking about colonial times or anything, the average lifespan was pretty significantly shorter pre-1900 afaik.
Oh yeah, good point. Forgot about that.
>>91384056
Somebody did storytime Wally Flash from the beginning a while back. They stopped during the Waid run, but it did make me realize that the pre-Waid stuff is actually pretty good.
>>91384217
>but two normal guys managed to hold onto Diana just fine.

Another panel for the "Wonder Woman hates necks" collage
Diana getting lit up like Robocop
Well, that plan was a bit more straightforward than I had thought.
Last one for tonight.
Welp

They didn't even try with this crummy prison cell
This is some Twilight Zone shit
Third annual meeting of the Sunglasses Club
Well that's... interesting
>>91384265
He gave up sadly.
Amazingly eye-destroying coloring job in that third panel
So this issue was included with the story mostly just to show that Diana actually didn't die at the end of last issue.
And that's that.
Thanks for reading, folks!
Be back tomorrow with another from Messner-Loebs.
>>91384840
All things considered, this seems like a spectacularly bad scheme. What makes her think he'd care about something like that?
Anyway, thanks for the storytime, OP.
