>While promoting Kong: Skull Island, Oscar-winner Brie Larson (The Room) -- who is portraying Carol Danvers in the MCU -- cautioned that not everyone will click with her version. "To be fair, there are a lot of iterations of her," Larson told SciFiNow magazine, "so there's going to be some people there who think this isn't right."
>She then described her iteration. "She's a believer in truth and justice and she is a bridge between Earth and space," she explained. "She's fighting between the flaws that are within her and all this good that she wants to try and spread and make the world a better place. She can also fly and shoot things out of her hands. And she's really funny!"
>Last year, during the Marvel Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic Con, Larson was on hand to confirm she'll be playing the iconic role. Since then, as you would suspect, she has enjoyed all of the attention that comes with the role. "Now I feel that I love connecting with other humans and I feel a deep sense of that," she shared. " Being a Marvel family member now, it's still really surreal. I still can't believe it to be honest, so very 'pinch me.'"

No more or less than Captain Marvel.
GotG returned Ronan to a Heel, gave Peter and Drax completely new personalities, and had just as many cosmics tied up in Fox as CM does.
The villains in GotG, hell most of the characters, made Baron Mordo look mainstream.
Plus it was a complete departure from every Marvel film so far, abandoning Earth for Space Adventure Time.

and... what? Oh, I get it, bringing console wars somehow wins our arguments.
All I gotta say about Gotg is that movie 1 was the story of Starlord and the most popular character ended up being the one note joke character.

How is that GOOD at all?

We're discussing how Marvel/DC movies are putting emphasis in the FUN part when marketing their flicks. You were the one who claimed Justice League was "better liked" than Spider-Man: Homecoming out of nowhere, so I assumed you were trying to say JL was being marketed as serious and gritty, which would be a fat fucking lie, because I know you're a good little anon who argues in-topic and wouldn't bring up stuff just for the sake of a company war, right?
>>91363386
>Not any of your human leads with tons of backstory
Who exactly had tons of backstory?
What?
Drax had "Convict out for revenge"
Gamora had "used to kill for Thanos"
Peter had the opening scene with cancer Mom and alien abduction. They spend more time re-telling Batman's damn origin EVERY FUCKING MOVIE than they do on any of the Guardians.
Rocket and Groot's schtick as never-do-well bounty hunters is as much "development" as anyone else got except maybe Peter.
You're gonna need to try harder.
>>91363384
>Your argument seems to be "tell lots of jokes and be like star wars and you're guaranteed great box office."
not the same guy but
1- That was no low brow comedy, that was a satire for sci-fi fans
2-Disney money for advertisement
3-Gotg is a family movie while Space Balls is almost R rated compared
4- Guardians of the galaxy has dumb comedy with tons of CGI and pandering to little kids, its not a 100% guaranteed way to make money but its not taking any chances on being great either or to tell a smart story
>''this is the prison with the highest security in the universe! We can't just scape! We need a plan!''

You may dislike it but it doesn't feel shoehorned as fuck like calling "family" to a bunch of dicks who barely talked to eachother for 3 hours and play it for a dramatic effect, even worse since it was the culmination of the only "character development" the movie had.

that and a ton of other stuff with Harley, again, they show her sexual side with no problems which makes her more human, Enchantress and Rick Flag not being able to not fuck makes them more relatable.
While Marvel, again, is affraid of showing characters being sexual or human for that matter
Is like the problem that I have with Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-man, they focus 99% of the time on the characters being super heroes to the point that you forget that they are meant to have personal lives, tastes in food, cloting, etc
We just never get any of that with most of the Marvel Disney era shit, everything is ''GO TO FROM POINT A TO B QUICK!!! GOTTA FIND THE POWERFUL THING!!''

People don't seem to know that R rating doesn't mean blood and tits everywhere
A movie can get an R rating for tons of things
cursing
people drinking and enjoying alcohol
cleavage and ass cracks
a person described killing another person with too much detail
gay characters ( for real...)
a character got stabbed with a pencil by accident and one drop of blood showed, too violent, R rating need it!
Now there is what people call a ''hard R rating'' and that's when you get the tits and the blood
>>91364310

L M A O. The only relatable character in SS was *maybe* Deadshot if you have a daughter and are a dick. Those characters were fucking charicatures. How the fuck Harley Quinn is relatable? How the fuck Flagg being cockblocked by an extradimensional entity is relatable? They didn't even looked into their relationship they just mentioned once and said "because yes".
>While Marvel, again, is affraid of showing characters being sexual
Gamora and Quill in Guardians, Widow and Hulk in Ultron, Tony Stark in Civil War is way more human than any character in SS. The guy gave you examples of Marvel characters being sexual but you handwaved just because.

For an actress who keeps talking about how progressive and strong her roles are, I was very surprised at how shallow her character in Kong proved to be.
Her only purpose in the film is to give the camera some boobs to linger on. With gratuitous purse strap across the chest boob accentuation, nonetheless. I'm not exaggerating, watch the movie and ask yourself what impact would it have if she had died in the first act or was never included in the first place.
The 1976 version of King Kong had a stronger female lead, and she was playing a ditzy wannabe actress who still ended up a stronger character.
Brie is a better actress than this, I'm not blaming the perfectly shallow character on her. But she did allow herself to play this character and bring nothing to the screen but a tank top so I'm not exactly taking her progressive creds too seriously.

I wouldn't say she has classically feminine facial structure. Again, not ugly, but her strong jawline and large forehead is a bit better suited for a man's features.
Maybe this will be a good match for the onscreen Captain Marvel. Lord knows all the comic characters look exactly alike, we haven't had an artist who avoids sameface since George Perez.
>>91363572
I hate when a girl says "oh my friend is really funny" and the she is just a cunt.
Its usually a very tall or fat girl that instead of being funny just insults you even though you just met.
We aren't allowed to be excited for Marvel Movies or acknowledge they were great after they come out, because if the MCU produces any less than a Stanley Kubrick art house masterpiece its shit whereas the DCEU can make turd after turd but we're all expected to be unconditionally hyped for every new film that comes out.
If a new Marvel Movie isn't an “Avengers tier” pop culture defining revolution then they claim it was a dud, that "People aren't even talking about it", that "I don't even know anyone who cares Marvel movies anymore", that "the bubble has burst." Chastising it with increasingly brazen parroted criticisms that dubiously never go into any more specifics or detail than what can be gleamed from the trailers.
All those box office bucks and records broken don't matter either, because making more money isn’t proof of quality (“muh bayformers”), but when it comes to DC, "hey look at all the money BVS and SS made despite everyone claiming they were shit!"
And all the pop culture adoration for the MCU with everyone on social media, TV and the streets singing its praises doesn't count because popularity isn’t proof of quality (“muh ad populum”), but, by god, you better believe there’s a sales chart waiting to be posted at a moment’s notice detailing Halloween Costume, Hot Topic and Toy sales should anyone doubt the DCEU’s popularity.
As for those critic reviews and movie aggregate sites, don’t bother bringing them up because “Disney bribes everyone with Mouse Money” and Rotten Tomatoes (despite being owned by Warner Bros) is clear proof of this, but at least we can still count on the Oscars (with judges who don't even watch most the movies awarded) to recognize true greatness.
And should you ever wear one of these trolls down into admitting or even implying the MCU is better than the DCEU that doesn’t mean jack squat because DC still has better Batman cartoons, better Batman comics, better Batman video games and better Batman Lego sets than Marvel.
DUDE FEMINISM LMAO
>>91366755
Warner Brothers isn't in the business of making movies.
They're in the business of making movie *trailers*, just good enough to get people into the seats.
If you look at how disjointed the movies are that is the only possible conclusion. They aren't making a movie, they're throwing 2-3 hours of random scenes at the screen to see what is good enough to stitch together into a 30s advert.
And you people keep falling for it.
I would kill all of you and your mothers for a live-action JLA that was anywhere near as good as the goddam cartoon version. Demand better than this.

not really, that's just lame expository dialogue ''budhapest! that's character development, right?''
It doesn't help that every character is the most cliche thing possible: Witty lead, witty female love interest, witty comedic character, strong guy that's basically a biker gang member, the one note pet character
Then there's the stupid shit like Starlord getting the gem without problems
Scaping the oh so safe jail without a plan or any kind of consequence
Rohan uses the gem against the Guardians and... literally nothing bad happens to them.
Rohan uses the gem for a second time, he acts like a retard instead of just using the gem to kill everybody.
Also somehow the gem of INFINITE POWER kills his user but if 5 users hold it together using their hands, the gem of INFINITE POWER does nothing.
Everybody survives shit that not even comic book characters would survive because Hollywood logic ''hide behind that desk! That explosion would never think of looking for us there!''
