No one. Max is the protagonist, Goofy is the antagonist, but there is not villain. Part of the genius of A Goofy Movie.

I'd argue Goofy was. He completely jumped the gun when all he should have done was ask max what actually happened that day at school.

Pete was too harsh on PJ, but it made him disciplined
Goofy was more of a friend than a father to Max, and Max treated him like shit
>>
>>91358084

Pete. He convinces Goofy to do something he normally wouldn't do to the son he loves. Max, who can't stand Pete, gets very annoyed when his dad, who he loves, starts acting like Pete. Max isn't PJ. Max has a spine. Max reacts like Max would to Pete. Shit happens. Goofy realizes that he was acting like Pete, decides Pete is an asshole and he would rather be Goofy instead Pete. Max loves his dad still, when things are cleared up, all is well again.

Pete is the villain because Pete is an asshole.
>>
>>91364835
Yeah, "RESPECT MUH AUTHORITAH" parents either end up in a retirement home or murdered by their own kids.

>>
>>91364937
Not a wounder given how retarded Pete and Goofy were in their parenting
>>
>>91364903

There is a big difference between disciplining your child and what Pete does. Pete is a border line child abuser. Pete is very much a narcissist, and treated PJ like property. PJ is a classic scapegoat child, with Pistol is the golden child. Peg is an enabler until she realizes if she doesn't step in Pete is going to do something to PJ that will get her life fucked up.

PJ and Max are good kids, but do get in trouble. There is no reason for Pete to treat PJ like slave labor. Hell, in the movie he is treating PJ worse then he did in the TV series.
>>
>>91364788
for a teenager no but mind you Max wouldn't go any where even if goofy asked.

Pete's a working father who makes sure his son knows how to earn his keep.

He's a dick at times and his business in used cars was pretty shady but he's still a go-getter that gets results in the right places. He's the type of character you loathe as a kid but makes more sense as you grow up.

Think about Max's age. this is exactly the time all teens get rebellious and hate their parents. Plus the fact Max FINALLY got a date with his girl only to find out he's going to miss it and that she will go with someone else. I'd be pissed too.

Communication is clearly the villain as even Max thought the whole trip was only for the Possum Park

Goofy, accept your kid is old, senpai, don't go to college with them and ruin their transition to real life.
>>
>>91361760
Pete and Goofy's parenting styles were basically two extremes, and both had major flaws.

Goofy tried too hard to be Max's friend, and while they had fun, Max didn't respect him as an authority figure.

Pete, meanwhile, kept PJ, in his own words, "under his thumb", and while he kept PJ in line, PJ was afraid of Pete, and it was very likely that they never really bonded. Pete was less a person in PJ's life and more a presence.
>>
>>91358084
It's a coming of age story. They are one of the few genre types that don't have villains, and barely have conflicts.

Though I think the first several posts are amusing or insightful answers as well.

Pete's meant to be a dick but his parenting ideas aren't necessarily wrong in theory. The problem is that he goes way too far with it. He's more like a bully than a father and treats PJ more like a lackey than a son. Discipline and respect are good things to instill, but if your kid is acting cowed and almost afraid when they're around you, that isn't the kind of "respect" you should be aiming for as a parent.
