It's a good book. I'm muslim and have no problem with this. The whole thing is a parody of left and right. It's libertarian if anything. The lead character is a black dude called Jamal with a confederate ancestor. It's pretty accurate to how the world is minus the y'know ghost part. Plus Henry Flint is a fantastic artist who did a brilliant Rogue Trooper run in 2000 AD and really can draw the shit out of war stories.

in war the one thing that the military does is dehumanize the enemy so soldiers have an easier time justifying taking a life so jabbing slurs at the enemy isn't all that much of a problem if you're gunning them down.

also slavery and forced military services is hardly the same, one is stripping away of a persons overall freedom forever and having their children taken away from them.
the other is mandatory enlistment, which happens in Korea and a few European countries, and I doubt most people fight since a good majority of MOS related work are typical non-combative stuff I believe.

Is it really discrimination when it's done in good humor by people who respect each other though?
