I don't know about you, but watching a show is both personal enjoyment AND discussions from what is being watched. Ever since I came to this website 10 years ago, that was the one thing that kept me coming, being able to discuss shit and interact with more people than just my normal circle of friends (because they are all plebs who don't watch anime). I certainly got far more enjoyment from watching Lost by talking about each episode with friends and family than I did by watching some amazing movie once, which is lost to these shows dumped in 5+hours chunks.

That has little to do with my ability to catch up or not, but rather how the discussion around it evolves.

Oh do they ever! I'm in a profession where there are a lot of people all over the world as coworkers. Islander and Africans don't like the blacks. Blacks don't like Africans but tolerate the Islanders to an extent. And within the Africans we have people from different countries that don't like one another.
