>Luther Strode: The Complete Series Hardcover – October 17, 2017
>>
>>91297676
I always ignored Luther Strode, now I looked up what it's about and feel I should have started reading it earlier. Just going to order that HC now and not spoiling myself until it arrives.
>>
>>91297676
Hell yeah. One of the few series I'll gladly double dip on.

>>91297676
Never read it, what's good about it?
>>
>>91295612
>Blacksad

My african american friend
>>
>>91298570
>The series focuses on Luther Strode, a skinny Teenager who lives with his mother. One day he orders a Charles Atlas analog, the Hercules Method, which grants him great muscle mass, supernatural reflexes and violent tendencies. The creators wanted the story to come of more as a Slasher styled horror film mixed with Spider-Man if Peter Parker didn't have Uncle Ben as a moral anchor.
>>
>>91298570
The art carries it completley. Writing wise, only part 1 was cool.
>>
>>91297676
What price?
I've gotten a boner for complete series omnibi lately.
>>

depends where you buy it. €44.,23 on amazon.de, £44.99 on amazon.co.uk, $40.20 on amazon.com
>>
>>91299077
Agreed. The writing in part 3 was pretty bad in particular.

Still worth it, though. I might storytime it later.

Two weeks worth of my standing order, a little raid of the back issue boxes and a cheeky TPB while I was there.

Trying not to let autism get the better of me with Giant Days. Trades are up to #16, so I just need to grab #17-19 and #23-24 now so I can catch up, NOT every single issue.

Aye, they're not great books, which is why I was never going to pay full price for them. They're not going to fall to bits in your hands or anything though, so still worth a punt at the right price.

Stacking up on Jiroguchi? I'm hoping Summit of the Gods is released in a nice hardcover like A Distant Neighbourhood one day, actually just thought you should know that is also going out of print too. The new hard cover release.

Nichijou is also finished soon right? I'm five volumes behind.

My pick ups:
Aqua Man #17, #19 and #20
Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #16 and #17
Harbinger Renegades #4
The Walking Dead #166 x2

maybe buy new shelves instead?
If you're missing (floor-)space for shelves, think about these:

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00290783/

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S89920694/

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50282182/

you'd have to check for yourself if your books actually fit into that though.

I need y'all's advice on my shelfing.
I just unboxed all my books after moving, and I want to know what you guys feel is best way to organize.

Company/Character (all Batman then all Superman then all WW and then etc) which could LOOK most unorganized not to mention some of the books are company crossovers.
Genre (all horror then all comedy then all superhero etc) which brings in how mixed do I make some of the Marvel/DC capes and some genres are too small like Western or Romance.
Pure Alphabetical? Which would have event stuff like Infinite Crisis Preludes far away from their proper order?

Last time I had them all a Frankenstein mix or organization that had me going "Is American Vampire in Horror or Vertigo? Why is my Batmanga with the Dark Horse manga??"
So I know I need to stick with something, but idk which.
>>
>>91309231
How thick are those Marvel Firsts and Age of Apocalypse companion?
Like we're they a good bang for the buck?
>>
>>91310012
They were pretty cheap from third party sellers on Amazon. I just checked and they're still pretty good prices. The 90's one is just a bunch of #1 issues collected, and the Age of Apocalypse one is basically anything that wasn't in the first omni.
>>
>>91309966

I have no idea, the best way I find is doing it whatever way that it annoys me the least, which in my case is sectioning it by publisher, then characters/series/whatever.

It not being in alphabetical order by author or something doesn't bug me
>>
>>91312097
>which in my case is sectioning it by publisher, then characters/series/whatever.
i do mine like this as well. though with manga I find it easier to organize purely by author.

>>91309966
I gave up long ago and just find places they can fit. It used to be by company, the alphabetical order by character or event, etc. I don't have that in me anymore. I try to keep characters/series together but that's where the real organization ends.

I think I'll continue with it, that first issue was an impulse buy 'cause I liked the art and had a dozen or so issues of Morrison's old run (it was the arc with the conscious painting that was eating Paris, or something), ended up really enjoying it.

Finally finished organizing my books.
I'm 90% sure I'm missing a box cause I've got some damn gaps in my hodgepodge of a collection. Also I have doubles of things so I'm crazy in the head or crazy for Twilight Zone Godzilla and Witch Doctor.

Also went to my LCS today and Shade the Changing Girl's new issue was already sold out.
So either they understocked big time or Shade is doing better than I thought it was.

Actual storybook by Paul Dini and Alex Ross.
It's sort of in a children's book style with narration in corners and artwork taking up most of the pages.
If I remember right there's a Batman and a Superman one out there like it, too.
>>
>>91337582
All the art for the main story is done by Tradd Moore. There are some backups done by other people though.

I have just finished organizing something over 40 longboxes. It took two weeks of on and off work. I wish for death.

I work in a hotel, we kind of opened up a library which my boss started, but most of the books nowadays originally belonged to me, last time I counted it was around 70. All of them TPBs, most of them fantasy/science-fiction novels which I gradually upgraded to HCs or which I had spare ones (from collection book sales on ebay and stuff).
No one's actually reading them though and they're just collecting dust, so I thought about donating them to the local library, which is seriously lacking in English books.
Comic-wise, I got a spare copy of LoSH Secret Origin, 2x Kill Six Billion Demons (they both got damaged but Bookdepository didn't want them sent back), GLC Recharge (since that's in the Omni) and Punisher Presents: Barracuda (which is in the Punisher MAX collections)

My new LCS is going to bankrupt me. Went back again today.

Grabbing my books from my old one before I moved was a chore because the aisles were so narrow and it was always packed with people. This one is nice and open and the staff aren't fucking miserable all the time. A 30 second chat about Omega Men and some free sleeves while checking out makes for a far better experience than a grunt and having your comics shoved awkwardly into a bag fucking up the corners.

There's a signing for Kim Reaper at the weekend, but I've never been too arsed about signed stuff so not sure whether I'll head into town for it or not.

Sorry for the amount of questions but you have some things i'm interested in.

How's X23 and Nyx?
How's Starfire?
How are those Batgirl and Supergirl books?
>>
>>91341371
90s X-Men, Wildstorm, basically the biggest dude at Dc now

who could even compete?
>>
>>91352479
>who could even compete?
Bendis
>>
>>91352479
Why, Rob Liefeld of course.
>>
>>91352645
Bendis?
>>
>>91351098

I think Nyx is really underrated, just disappointing it was only the two short runs. Feels like there was more that could have been done with it.

Both X-23 miniseries are great and the 2010 ongoing is even better. The collections are fine, but lack her time in Academy X/New X-Men which is one of her better runs, and is OOP at the moment. To be fair, that is a fantastic run that happens to have X-23 as part of the ensemble, she's not the selling point for it.

I've not actually read Starfire yet.

For Batgirl, I really like the slightly dodgy hipster version from the later half of the New 52 run. It's a bit cringey in places, but it's a fun book. The Cassandra Cain books are better on the whole, but I was never entirely sold on Cass as a lead rather than a sidekick. It's better written, but I prefer Babs as a protagonist.

I'm a massive Supergirl mark so probably biased, but I really like all those runs. The New 52 one is different, and Kara is super angsty throughout, but it goes in some interesting directions. Red Lantern Kara is a highlight of the entire New 52 for me.

The Peter David version is my favourite overall, so glad it's back in print. I've got vol 2 in the post to go with that vol 1 there.

The other run there is the weakest of the 3. It's not bad, but I'm not a fan of the art, and it's a pretty bland take on the character. It's fine if you just want more Supergirl. The Superman/Batman arc it spun out of is better than anything in the solo series.
>>
>>91352890
Yes, Brian Michael Bendis.
>>
>>91352645

Clearly. USM is a retread with glacial pacing middle of the road to shit art art. It's slow, safe and ultimatly forgettable.

Thanks for the reply.

Think i'm going to order some Supergirl.
>>
>>91337455
Judging from amazon reviews there seems to be a disagreement over this issue and the proper reading order.
Iirc, the crossovers are largely seperate narratives going on at the same time as the main event but still their oen thing. In which case, no big deal.
It does end with "Who Will Rule"

I am waiting for the Road to the War of Kongs omni to get here from IST before I re-read the cosmic stuff.

I thought it really increased pace and readability during New Krypton and towards its end (before New52 hit). Especially Gates' stuff was pretty nifty. Also the Nick Spencer controversy always gives me a hard-on.
